David Cameron is NOT a conservative

David Cameron claims to be “compassionate moderate sensible conservative” and he may campaigned as a conservative to manipulate the working class but he governed as liberal.

Labour voters hate him for not being far left enough but in reality he’s still more left than right since he’s pro-choice, open border, high taxes, big government, made his party more green friendly, campaigned for rending in the EU, opposes WTO and a he’s a globalist.

David Cameron is the reason why The Conservative Party is no longer conservative now it’s highjacked by career seeking fake conservative sellouts like Theresa May, Phillip Hammond, Jeremy Hunt, Amber Rudd, Sajid Javid, Rory Stewart, Nick Boles, Anna Soubry

Globalism has been part of the British mentality since before Empire, so I don't know how it is not a traditional view.

Nor why you consider DC's political affiliation relevant or important. Next you'll be talking about Gladstone.
****, gave the OP a thumbs up my mistake! :colondollar:

"Conservative" and "liberal" are relative terms, not absolute terms with hard cut offs. Being a conservative means you're to the right of whatever centre/left wing ground exists in your country/political landscape. Typically this refers to where people stand on economic and social issues, in which the Conservative Party take a more conservative/right wing leaning stance.
it's called Neo-liberalism. it's the strand of conservatism that many modern conservatives are today, including in the US. oof I never thought I'd use neo-liberalism past Monday when I finished my politics exam
He's at the liberal end for sure.

Rees Mogg is what we need.

Nah. On social issues he's 'relatively' liberal. Though he did also stoke up fears about immigration.

But on economic issues he is very Conservative. Low taxes, brutal cuts to public services, anti welfare, pro privatisation etc.

I’m the opposite since I’m socially conservative but on economics it’s pretty mixed. He’s a big government establishment kind of guy. That hypocrite had a disabled son that he got disability welfare and took the advantage out of the NHS.

When has the Conservative Party ever embodied these sorts of ideals?

What you seem to be advocating for is an isolationist, protectionist nationalist party that promotes climate change denial and other vaguely alt-right stances imported from the United States. The Conservative Party, in modern times, has never advocated for those sorts of positions. Indeed, can we keep in mind that the Conservative and Unionist Party is a party of liberalism and is so named because of its merger with the Liberal Unionists.

Presumably your ire is directed equally at John Major, Ted Heath, Michael Heseltine, William Hague, Ken Clarke, Alec Douglas-Home, Stanley Baldwin? Maybe they should all have gone and joined the Lib Dems. Hell, even Winston Churchill was a Liberal MP, the old lefty.

Once the party has been in office for too long, the same fools pop up and agitate for us to move to the right. Then the party loses elections.

That's a ****ing appalling thing to say. His son was heavily disabled, he was entitled to support - that is universal and not based on income - to help provide adjustments for his son. He was entitled to treatment in an NHS hospital, just like any other British citizen.

INow you’re getting the wrong end of stick. I’m aware of his late son’s condition. He allowed MPs representing just party to vote for disability cuts by £30 in 2016. I’m someone who’s on esa and pip. That’s why he’s hypocrite because of it.

I’m a huge fan of Enoch Powell.

I don't think advocating for disability cuts means that you don't want disabled people to recieve any kind of support. If he was a hypocrite then he would have to recieve the amount that he would have gotten prior to the chaanges he implemented.

All those unreasonable repulsive Tory MPs that voted for the cuts should ashamed of themselves. David Cameron and Theresa May didn’t bother voting but if they did then they would’ve voted for the cuts. The only former Tory MP and former Change Uk leader that voted against was Heidi Allen. Thousands of disabled and terminally ill people have commit or attempted suicide.
This reads like it's really out of date considering Cameron hasn't been Tory leader for 3 years and Boles and Soubry aren't even in the Conservative Party any more.

Well not really. There is a point at which you can't continue to spend borrowed money. David Cameron very much is a conservative. If you think about what conservatism means, it is just that - preserving and conserving. Using less. In theory the Tories should be the green party and Brexit is about as anti-conservative as it gets given the destructive nature it has and will continue to have on the country. The issue in my view is that the Conservative party isn't very conservative in the way that the Labour party doesn't really represent labourers any more. Frankly I don't really know what either party stand for in terms of fundamental values. Perhaps that might be why they are polling so badly?

Real Conservatives are of the likes of Margaret Thatcher and Nigel Farage. David Cameron is just fake conservative globalist kind of guy.

Someone needs to let Nigel Farage know he's a conservative then!

I said to a friend years and years ago, when he was rejoicing about how New Labour had destroyed socialism. I said 'be careful the same thing doesn't happen to you, it's likely too very soon'

I was right

Funny that you mention this.

Back in 2010 a local told me that what Britain needs is another Enoch Powell as PM, and that the Conservatives have a picked a complete dipstick (David Cameron) as their leader. He voted BNP in the general election that year.

My theory is that David Cameron was picked as leader of the Conservatives to outBlair Blair at a time when Blairism was declining and support for more patriotic politics was rising. He was basically the wrong man for the time.
