which laptop?

Hi, I'm starting an undergraduate degree in Education this september, I don't know what laptop to get. I am not very experienced with Windows and prefer to use a chrome book.

...Haven't you answered your own question (i.e. get a chromebook)? Most of the time these are pretty affordable.

is there a brand of 'quality' to look for, I don't want to buy something that isn't going to meet the requirements

What will you use the laptop for mainly? Note-taking and document writing, watching videos/streaming, gaming?
