24,018 g mol^-1 for the M_r of the polymer

R_f value of 0.33 (possibly 0.35)

Molecular formula of C10 H12 O2 (second 6-marker)
Structure: CH3 Benzene Ring CH (CH3) COOH

Condensation polymer and addition polymer

Stereoisomer- same structural formula different spatial arrangement




splitting pattern: triplet, triplet, quartet, triplet
synthetic routes with H+ and OH- break ester bond for both! with OH- remove the H to get O- for product. reaction is hydrolysis.
Benzene and Kekule: kekule has localised electrons as benzene delocalised. Both have p orbitals forming pi system. Then draw 3d structure
Differences of benzene and kekule: benzene less exothemic than expected as delta H is different than expected, all carbon carbon bonds same length and C=C (short) and C-C (long), doesnt undergo addtition

What structure did people get on the final 6 marker? Did it matter about the positions on the benzene ring because it didn't give us carbon NMR??
The first exam I’ve come out of from the 5 I’ve had so far and not wanted to cry so that’s a positive 🙏

yeah it didn't matter and it also said "give ONE of the structures" to account for that
