Alabama completely loses the plot in pro-life travesty.

It says it was a fight.

Still an overreaction. You shoot someone then you have to be prepared for the possibility of killing them.Even if you shoot for the arm or leg there is still a fair chance of killing them.Unless she genuinely feared for her life there is no excuse.

assuming the shooter is being truthful and will keep their word but the parent refuses to stop talking and the child dies, would you agree the parent is partly at fault.

I have no interest in politics, I'd rather do A-level Chemistry

But the parent has no way of knowing that they are being truthful. And no they are the ones carrying the gun around. If you carry a gun then you must be prepared to take responsibility for killing someone.Thats what guns are for.If you are not prepared to take a life then you have no business carrying a gun around in public.

It is the USA and they have guns plus in this state they are allowed to have concealed weapons.Dont initiate fights with other citizens.
Thinkl yourself lucky the gun laws in the UK are as tight as they are.

Well this is a whole other argument isn't it? The fact that anybody can just whip out a gun and blow holes in other people is not a good argument for less gun control. It could be anybody.Terrorists, bullied children,a suicidal co-worker, just somebody having a bad day,a schizophrenic. This is why America needs gun laws.So that what should have ended in a bloody nose doesn't turn into a court case.
Man we joke about this often at work but I really am starting to think The Handmaid's Tale is just a documentary of the USA filmed in 2040.

State legislature and law enforcement in Alabama have vanished down the rabbit hole.

Pregnant woman is shot in the stomach, which kills foetus.
Pregnant woman is charged with manslaughter of baby because she is accused of starting the argument which led to the other party shooting her.
The shooter walked free because of Alabama's 'stand your ground' law which states that people can use lethal force if they feel threatened.

'this sorry excuse for a mother/thug did not care another about her unborn child who at 5 month could have been born alive. Scared another woman with abusive behave and got shoot and the unborn child was very sadly killed. The court was right charged this woman with manslaughter because her selfish behave. the only thing that is wrong here is if the woman who shoot her was man he problem be doing a long prison sentence and she got off.

You cant just whip out a gun and shoot who you like, but if you are threatened and someone attacks you, then you may have justification to do so.
You are putting the responsibility on the person who was attacked rather than the person who decided to start a fight.

The other issue about the foetus is down to Alabama.
If the situation was reversed and it was an armed robber who shot the pregnant woman, would they be charged for the killing?
She was charged for manslaughter because she committed reckless disregard for the safety of the child. She instigated the confrontation in an aggressive manner and continued to do so according to the crime report, which resulted in her tragically being shot and the baby dying. It is the same as how if you are in a car crash and you failed to strap your child in, you will be charged with manslaughter if the child dies.

Ask yourself this; is it fair for a pregnant woman to start a fight and continue being aggressive to the point where she is shot, resulting in the baby dying, and face no consequences for such disregard of the child's life?
Someone who talk sentence.

And, in reference to my previous statement, for those who need proof, here is a direct quote from the police officer involved; Pleasant Grove Police Lt. Danny Reid: "the department brought charges against Jones as well because the only true victim in this was the unborn baby. It was Jones who initiated and continued the fight, which resulted in the death of her own unborn baby.”

The case has absolutely nothing to do with Alabama's abortion laws, and nothing to do with abortion in general. The Woman acted recklessly which resulted in her baby being killed.

So ...you're just gonna ignore the atrocious Stand Your Ground law, all in your quest to virtue signal in favour of far left social justice cliches such as attacking pro life...?

What is atrocious about the 'stand your ground' law? It gives people who are faced with an imminent threat to their life the right to fight back without the duty for them to retreat and potentially allow the aggressor to go on and commit more violent crime.

Perhaps not massively surprising when you look at Alabama's education record. Who'd have thought that a crazy religious state has rubbish education?
It also wouldn't surprise me if this charge would never have been brought up if the woman was white; I'm not on to blame everything on race at all but Alabama isn't exactly known for its good race relations.

If this ridiculous charge actually holds then I'll be surprised though.

assuming the parent knows the shooter is telling the truth

Even them a good parent would not get in an argument that could result in their child being in danger
Why is a manslaughter charge against someone, who by definition committed manslaughter, a ridiculous charge?

It’s pretty ridiculous to start arguments while heavily pregnant though.

Hardly a good excuse to shoot her five times in the womb though now is it?

Given we know not what started said argument nor the context around it im not sure you can level a judgement purely on those grounds against her?

Because she isn't the one who pulled out a handgun and shot someone?
