BP is regulated by both the nervous system (i.e. sympathetic nervous system) and the endocrine system (i.e. kidneys and the renin-angiotensin system). In chronic kidney disease, there is activation of the RAS system as well as sodium retention which raises the BP and worsens the kidney function.
