Trump claims that American army 'took over airports'... in 1775 War of Independence

This is piss funny. What a lad.

The Continental Army suffered a bitter winter of Valley Forge, found glory across the waters of the Delaware and seized victory from Cornwallis at Yorktown. Our Army manned the air, it rammed the ramparts, it took over airports, it did everything it had to do and at Ft. McHenry under the rocket’s red glare had nothing but victory. When dawn came, the star-spangled banner waved defiant.

Someone wrote that for him without him giving feedback, it's not his style. They're fired tomorrow.
He also referenced Fort McHencry, which was not built until about 20 years after the Declaration of Independence was signed. He was thinking of a cometely different war.

Oh, it will take a few more of those for him to come down to the level of Trumpophobes...
Julius Caesar came in via the Channel Tunnel when he invaded Britannia. Luckily, he was able to go back on Ryanair, landing at Rome Parkway. (Tashkent)
Honestly, next he will be saying America won.
The British are coming! They're on Virgin Atlantic flight 179 to Philadelphia international airport.

Honestly, are there any sensible Americans not embarrassed by this bloke?

But Mr Trump surprised some by steering clear of overt partisanship in his speech, instead celebrating patriotic themes and US history including civil rights.

That's a hell of a surprise indeed, an American president celebrating the 4th with patriotic themes and not being partisan. The people at the Guardian must be rubbing their eyes in disbelief too, when the BBC say some they mean themselves.

It still confuses me how they can square these kind of moronic comments with believing his blow hard statements of 'the world respects us again' 'we've made america great again' ...

They also had rocket launchers and machine guns, yet they still struggled to win against the Redcoats who were armed with just muskets

We had the rocket launchers (having nicked the idea from the Indians) and that was in the War of 1812.

“And the rockets’ red glare,
The bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof through the night,
That our flag was still there,
O say does that Star-Spangled banner yet wave,
O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave.”

Trump has since said that he rehearsed and knew the speech well and could have done it without the teleprompter, but that the teleprompter the died midway through the speech and that he couldn't read it anyway due to rain. Basically his explanation makes f*ck-all sense to account for his addition of airports and an anachronistic inclusion of another battle from a completely different war.
The “airports” could have been Trump misreading/elaborating “ports” but the stuff from the War of 1812 is undoubtedly due to (a) having an ignorant speechwriter; and (b) not knowing enough American history to realise you have an ignorant speechwriter.

In other news, several Democratic candidates claim they will offer free tuition and healthcare to everyone in the US, including illegal migrants. It's also claimed that black people are entitled to money because of slavery and that all borders will be done away with. They are also claiming they have a deal to save the planet and that abortions will be available on demand. Some of them claim there's no such thing as a man or woman anymore. Sanders wants to finish off private medical insurance and Harris wants to patrol the south border with drones.

Yeah, Trump can come up with some controversial stuff all right. The Democratic lot are a picture of mental health next to him, aren't they?
At least Boris has a firm grasp of the classics....

and so the Spartan fleet of submarines set sail for the Island of Lesbos with the intention of subduing the city of Mytilene, which had imposed 25% tariffs on chariot imports. the great God Apollo, enraged by reports that he was shining too hotly and melting the snows on Mount Ida, sent war dolphins to intercept the Spartan underwater triremes.
The man is an ignorant buffoon.

In other news, several Democratic candidates claim they will offer free tuition and healthcare to everyone in the US, including illegal migrants. You mean like the NHS for example. It's also claimed that black people are entitled to money because of slavery and that all borders will be done away with. The latter is something you made up. Slavery reparations have been discussed for a very long time. It is neither a new nor even a particularly radical proposal. The Congress debated it on and off for over a century. They are also claiming they have a deal to save the planet and that abortions will be available on demand. The Green New Deal, already supported by more than 1/3 of all voters within a year of AOC proposing it. No wonder the Petro-Oligarchs and Coal Oligarchs are worried. Abortion on demand - you mean like Europe for example? Some of them claim there's no such thing as a man or woman anymore. A gross distortion of the arguments. Sanders wants to finish off private medical insurance A Very sensible proposal given the extreme cost and profiteering built into it and Harris wants to patrol the south border with drones. Something the US government already regularly does. Not sure what your objection is here.

Yeah, Trump can come up with some controversial stuff all right. The Democratic lot are a picture of mental health next to him, aren't they?

My comments in bold.

It was the French use of cyberdrones that really did for them in Louisiana.

So you do agree with free healthcare for everyone, that there ought to be reparations for slavery, that nothing ought to be done about the south border, that the GND is a realistic proposition, that people with medical insurance ought to have it taken away and that illegal immigration can be checked electronically. You agree with the Democrats on everything, thanks for letting us know. You're one of them all right.
