So you do agree with free healthcare for everyone,

Thank you for restating the most popular policy of the Democrats, healthcare for everyone, something Trump tried and failed to destroy as an idea.

In other news, several Democratic candidates claim they will offer free tuition and healthcare to everyone in the US, including illegal migrants. It's also claimed that black people are entitled to money because of slavery and that all borders will be done away with. They are also claiming they have a deal to save the planet and that abortions will be available on demand. Some of them claim there's no such thing as a man or woman anymore. Sanders wants to finish off private medical insurance and Harris wants to patrol the south border with drones.

Yeah, Trump can come up with some controversial stuff all right. The Democratic lot are a picture of mental health next to him, aren't they?

I believe those are called political promises. Anyone who deserves t be able to vote knows full well there isnt a hope in hell they could be carried through.

It's not being taken away though is it, it'd be replaced by a system where access to healthcare is recognised as a necessity, not something to make disgusting profit margins on because if you've got cancer you should consider just not being poor according to Republicans.

Sanders and Harris (at least, the ones i saw affirming it but the rest cannot afford to be far behind) are talking about doing away with medical insurance as a requisite, they wave it away as a cumbersome exercise in paper-work and simply urge people to 'move on' from the existing state of affairs. Their political argument starts and ends right there, no more.

The questions raised by such simplistic and ultra-populist posturing are too many, they have no answers to a single one nor do they care. How much would this 'free healthcare' cost, who is going to provide it, is all existing medical infrastructure going to be nationalised and staff turned into State employees with no option, will people forcefully be made to go Statal even if they want to pay for private care? It's just that crazed communist narrative over reason, Obamacare never proposed doing such thing because he knew it simply couldn't be done. So do Sanders and Harris.

As for Harris' raising of some people's expectations on compensation for slavery inflicted on their ancestors... that is as low as anyone can get.

requisite/ˈrɛkwɪzɪt/
noun 1. a thing that is necessary for the achievement of a specified end.

Yes, they're planning to remove the need for insurance by setting up a single payer health care system, like pretty much every other western country offers, and manages to spend far less per head from the government compared to the disaster show in the US as such (because the medical system ceases to be a profit focused enterprise).

and (c) not giving a flying **** about the facts anyway.

I don't think that is right on this subject because his base does understand American history and really expects other American to do so. I suspect that privately he is very embarrassed. Expect departures.

Someone wrote that for him without him giving feedback, it's not his style. They're fired tomorrow.

Works even better with Trump.

It still confuses me how they can square these kind of moronic comments with believing his blow hard statements of 'the world respects us again' 'we've made america great again' ...

Don't forget the stable genius's very large brain.

Universal healthcare and education are reasonable social goals.
Thinking there were airports in the 18th century is not "controversial". It is insane.

So you do agree with free healthcare for everyone,

Who wouldn't agree with free healthcare at the point of delivery?

that there ought to be reparations for slavery,

There are arguments for and against, depending on the circumstances.

that nothing ought to be done about the south border,

Who is saying that "nothing" should be done?

that the GND is a realistic proposition,

A version of it will be. It is not the finished article.

that people with medical insurance ought to have it taken away

Medical insurance isn't a physical thing, like a car you know. It expires every year. They just won't be able to renew it and will switch to public insurance. Anyway, it would be unlikely to be outlawed, just an optional extra like in the UK.

and that illegal immigration can be checked electronically.

That is part of the solution. Electronic measures are used by many nations already.

Virtually all of these questions could be answered by simply looking at a country with an existing universal healthcare system. Like say, the one we live in?

Those characters are not talking about a mix, they worry about the detrimental effect to public by permitting private to soak up the best doctors and nurses. No more insurance, that's not what we have here. It doesn't matter to anything, it's all pie in the sky but how much would it cost for them to build up an equivalent to our NHS then? We spent £125 billion last year, everybody says we need twice as much as that and let's multiply it all by the scale of the US. This isn't even a discussion worth having, I've stopped taking Leftism seriously altogether. Bernie says he'll tax Amazon (which is sailing pretty close to the wind, with Bezos owning the WaPo and being such a big net contributor to the Dems), to try and make it look serious. Bah, waste of time.

Nobody I know would disagree, you're right there.

It will never happen and it's disgusting for politicians to wave that stick for votes.

Who is saying that "nothing" should be done?

The Democrats, everything they say points in that direction. Absolutely everything.

Medical insurance isn't a physical thing, like a car you know. It expires every year. They just won't be able to renew it and will switch to public insurance. Anyway, it would be unlikely to be outlawed, just an optional extra like in the UK.

OK, we'll see how it goes.

That is part of the solution. Electronic measures are used by many nations already.

A good example of why I've stopped taking Leftism seriously at all, at some point we have to resort to the real world and forget about this parallel universe they talk about. The 'electronic surveillance' the Democrats talk about is simply a scheme to make the Silicon Valley big wigs rich in return for their investment and allow everyone in the world to just come along and wave at the cameras and drones plus all the rest. Nah, none of this stuff deserves to be taken seriously at all.

Please let us know when you actually do that rather than living in this weird world where Trump is even a remotely competent president. Electronic border controls are the real world - like the e-gates used at airports throughout the EU to read passports and biometrics.

Yes but you're just taking this to the realms of the absurd like them, how do you see 'electronic controls' relieve the pressure in the South border? It wouldn't in the real world but... I understand where you guys come from, you and the Democrats do not want to see anything done about that. All you want is for everybody in the world to be able to cross it and disappear, that is the reality of things and I don't care what lefties say in order to mislead people. What the Democrats want is to make it as hard as possible for ICE to stop anyone, let's get real.

I do actually want to abolish all borders, but the democrats, being a center to center right party, don't. What they'll be arguing for is electronic border gates (like the ones used in the EU), ANPR cameras for customs, that sort of thing.

No. The Democrats are not centre-right. Bernie Sanders is a Socialist, which is a left-wing ideology.

He isn't a Democrat though. He just runs on the Democratic ticket to get more votes.

Hes not a socialist, he's a social democrat (akin to the Nordic countries), and isn't a Democratic party member, he's an independent for the most part.
