Alright, you DO need to understand all the case studies listed It might sound boring but you can use the knowledge from the case studies to answer applied questions.

But surely you can get that from learning one case study. Or do they ask questions specific to one case study?

Each case study is different from the other. it's unlikely they will give you questions to more than one case study in a single exam series. However, you never know which one they will specifically test you So better to learn it all. The CGP revision guide is the best for case studies as it summarises everything into small amounts.
