you cant get learner insurance if you have passed your test but you can poss get temp insurance but it may depend if the car is insured by someone else already. my daughter could only get temp cover on a car that was owned and insured by someone else so the temp cover literally covered the car only when she was driving it, not for fire/theft

Yeah the cars insured with Fleet insurance. Could I also just get a new policy and then cancel it after I’m done with the car?

If you can get a policy and you cancel it before the end of the year you will not earn any no claims and there is generally a charge for cancelling the policy. but it is doable.

No chance, I couldn't even get temp insurance to drive home a similar powered car that I actually bought, as a 22 year old. You'd have to insure it on a parent and get added as an additional driver but even then it would cost an insane amount even if its possible. Do you own the car?
On a Golf R? Good luck paying insurance on that at your age.

I am not surprised; it is in group 29. Did you do no research before buying?

Yeah my family does, we have a large fleet of cars. The golf r is just the lowest powered vehicle we have.

So, if your company rented out only Ferraris and Maseratis you would have got one and not bothered checking whether anyone would be fool enough to insure you? I despair.

No, the car has been on the fleet since last year and as I passed I wanted to have that as my first car.

No sense of blind entitlement, absence of common sense or lack of forethought at all then.

-_- Just wanted to see if there was anyways of getting insured on the car since I already one available to me instead of creating a whole new policy and canceling it when I am done with it.

Surely you must go to some smaller insurance company that specialises in expensive/exotic cars? Any standard insurer as you mentioned definitely won't insure you but maybe ask the company that insures the most expensive car. Or ask whoever owns the fleet...

You're not going to get insured on an R at 17 unless you have VERY deep pockets.

That would be fronting. Don't endorse illegal activity on TSR.

Not going to lie, I'm sure a lot of people do that. What can you really do about it

If you do it and have an accident the doo-doo you will be in will be very smelly, very deep and very expensive (even more so than paying honestly), and will hound you for years. 25% of young drivers have an accident within a year of passing their test.

I know. He never mentioned owning the car (hence why I asked), or the context behind his usage of the car.

You crash, you're ****ed put it that way.

Try veygo, they're pricey for more than a week's worth of insurance, but I think they're one of the only temp insurer which will insure a 17 year old IIRC.
