40 Days until GCSE Results Day from today

GCSE Results Day is now 40 days away. I know some of you are struggling with patience and the waiting as it is long. For some of you, GCSE Results Day is going to be a day of disappointment as it was for me last year as it could be bad news that you got lower than a 4 in many subjects and for the rest of you it will be one of the best days of your life as you may find out some good news like that you got all 7s and 8s and 9s in all your subjects. For all of us, what we do in September depends on these GCSE Results whether that is A-Levels or whatever and that is why the week after the GCSE Results are found out is known as Decision Making Week for Year 11. Most schools want you to decide what you want to in September on the same day as Results Day but some do allow you to think about for a few days and then come back. It is best to open your GCSE Results in school somewhere but that may be hard for some of you as you may not want to share them with many people except your parents, so for those people it would better to wait until you got home to open them. There are three ways of getting your GCSE Results and they are: going to your school physically and picking them up, asking your school to post them to you and asking your school to email them to you. The grade boundaries for every subject on every exam board will be released on results day morning at either 6am or 8am depending on the exam board and subject, all you have to do is on Results Day do a google search for “june 2019 gcse grade boundaries and then the exam board for the subject you want to find out about so if it is AQA put AQA” and then it should come up with a website that has all the GCSE grade boundaries for each subject in alphabetical order click on that and go down and note down the ones for the subject you are interested in.
In some cases you may have to put the subject in as well but that is only if it is a subject that is unusual in schools.

I have no clue what the grade boundaries will look like for GCSE film studies, I’m only in year 10 so just doing the one subject a year early

I do have some idea as my teacher knows what they usually are but she prefers the old grades to the new grades but they are becoming hard to understand.

90% A*
80% A
70% B
60% C
50% D
40% E
30% F
20% G
0%-19% U

That is with the old grades as she prefers them for some reason.

The new grades:
95%-100% 9
90%-94.99999999999% 8
80%-89.99999999999% 7
70%-79.99999999999% 6
65%-69.99999999999% 5
60%-64.99999999999% 4

30%-39.99999999999% 1

Grade U: 0-59 marks
Grade 1: 60-79 marks
Grade 2: 80-99 marks
Grade 3: 100-119 marks
Grade 4: 120-129 marks
Grade 5: 130-139 marks
Grade 6: 140-159 marks
Grade 7: 160-179 marks
Grade 8: 180-189 marks

It has now gone down to 37 days so this thread has become out of fashion now. @DJCampbell @DJCampbell Does this give you some clue about the grade boundaries for Film Studies?

If anybody else wants to post on here they can. I hope the opening post is not too long as I don’t know how to shorten it. Is it a good idea to check the grade boundaries in the morning before you get your results or is it better to wait until you have got your results? Where is the best place to open your results to avoid stress?

Good luck to everyone on results day!

Not long to go now, I'm thinking of opening mine in the hall. What about everyone else?
I don't want to open mine! Rather not know than know and be disappointed!

This is seriously innacurate - pass marks (grade 4) last year were mostly between 30-50% - I only got 85% in my Edexcel French GCSE last year and was well within the boundary for a grade 9.

If that is your view, that is your view, I was only talking about WJEC GCSE Film Studies and not any other GCSEs that I did this year such as French.

What I am attempting to convey is that grade boudaries will never be that high nor that perfectly divided on the new system, as grades are calculated based off the entire pool of candidates that took that qualification in a given year.
@DJCampbell @DJCampbell

What grade are you aiming for in WJEC GCSE Film Studies?

I really really want at least a Grade 4 but I don’t think I have got it.

depends on the school, most no as they need permission to be posted and most also require you to buy the envelope and stamp.
