Thugs attack gay pride

Pride is overtly sexual and I'd rather not see half naked people dancing around and bragging about who they shag. Sex is a private matter of the bedroom. This kind of sexual celebration is the act of degenerates. CAN SOMEONE PLEASE THINK OF THE CHILDREN!

another to be reminded that you must somehow be wrong for not embracing it.

I hear this a lot and I just don't get it. Does someone else having a parade really amount to what you say? I've never been to a pride thing in my life, and precisely none of the LGBT bunch are bothered by that.

Who has ever told you that not taking part in pride makes you bigoted/intolerant?

Yep... my church won't baptise me because my leanings are Unitarian. I don't care...
This is patently not true. The Soviet Union was imprisoning people for homosexual activity right up until its dissolution in 1991. But the uneducated products of our awful school system always believe Leftism=Tolerance=Benevolence=Socialism=Communism=Soviet Union=Good=Moral.
The far-left has always used 'liberation movements' to further its ideology in the west. At the moment they are pushing Islam and LGBTQIA+, which requires the useful idiots to maintain their double-think skills sharp. They will be discarded when their purpose has been served.

I honestly don't understand how this is contributing to what I said? Yes, perhaps in Poland this was the case. But not in the UK, the Americas, most of central Europe etc. When we fight for climate change, we don't fight for a better climate just in our country, but rather the whole world. Pride is still raising awareness about the many African and Asian countries that still criminalise and literally murder people for being LGBT. Alongside that, it's as I mentioned previously, your own special experience to remember the people who fought for your rights before you, across the whole world. A milestone in one country is the start in another. So, maybe Poland was oh-so-great, but the rest of the world wasn't. And so what if Poland was so accepting? Doesn't necessarily mean it's the case now. In the Soviet Union, being gay and LGBT was perfectly normal and accepted, and I believe at one point they either legalised gay marriage or came really close to it. Now look at Russia - one of the most homophobic countries in the world. Poland still has a long way to go: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LGBT_rights_in_Poland

I suppose I stand corrected.

But I did not mention 'Leftism=Tolerance=Benevolence=So cialism=Communism=Soviet Union=Good=Moral' or anything of that sorts anywhere. It seems a bit ridiculous you'd bring this argument up at any instance. But I don't know what you were taught - I'm happy to tell you that a fair and balanced curriculum is taught. Even in the north. No bias is shown towards the left; the left aren't being praised as heroes or anything. I mentioned that as something I had read somewhere - I did not link the two at all. In fact, we are literally taught how sh*t communist and fascists states are. I just don't understand how you managed to jump to THAT conclusion from a single line I said. but carry on I guess.
The latter part was more of a reply to what I have read in the thread in general. Apologies if it came accross as a personal attack.

Just a quick search would show you countless people who have found that pride helped them to accept who they are, helped them to come out, or helped them to find acceptance where they do not have it with their own family or friends. I don't have evidence in the form of written research papers, but I can tell you that it has helped so many LGBT+ people.

If that's the case, it sounds perfectly reasonable, and I'm for it.
However, I do still do not think the marches would improve the image of LGBT among people who are against them.

Especially when some people who identify with LGBT community are acting very offensively

Not true at all, it was very well documented in many cultures, and actually very common and socially significant.

Which precisely?
The Greeks didn't brag, it was a normal thing.
However, they got conquered by the Romans.

Original post by shadowdweller

If you can link me to some information on that, I'd gladly read up on it. From what you've said thus far, however, that sounds like it has very little to do with people being LGBT+ actually having a negative impact, and everything to do with people trying to control it having the impact.

Polish people are living in the dark ages with racism.

No, you won't get away with that Sir!
While I'm very critical of my own nation, I believe that at least half of them are dark age idiots who are a disgrace to their own ancestors who were much more progressive than them, I will strongly oppose the accusation of racism.

Racism is a distinctively West-European feature (and Chinese in a specific way). Poland was never racist, and even today it is not!
If you think otherwise, please tell me exactly how do you wish to support your claim.

"Extreme Nationalism Is as Polish as Pierogi"

Poland is a very traditional, religious, conservative and isolationist society. It's not a surprise that this produces racism.

Poland is a very traditional, religious, conservative and isolationist society. It's not a surprise that this produces racism.

Just as I expected, no evidence or valid point at all.

So here we go:

-Poland never had any colonies in Africa or Asia. Still, Polish nobleman, Konstanty Jabłonowski, adopted a mixed English-African child, given him name Władysław, and family name Jabłonowski. The mixed race man, became a general of the Polish army, and a national hero who is even mentioned in 'Pan Tadeusz' - which is the most important book of the Polish literature. His nickname was 'Murzynek' which is a diminutive from 'Murzyn' a term for African people.

What you need to know, is that the word 'Murzyn' which is translated to English as 'Negro' in Polish culture is not an offensive term, while 'Black' (in Polish 'Czarny') is impolite. Even more vital thing you need to know, that using diminutives in Polish culture, shows affection to a person, activity or thing. So the diminutive term "Murzynek" meant the people had great, prositive affection to him

-A few years ago, an info abut a Black participant of the Warsaw Uprising went through the country. The response was very positive
https://demotywatory.pl/3594214/August-Agbola-O039Brown

-Aleksander Kwaśniewski, Polish president promoted himself with a music band that had Black guy:

-A mixed Black girl is a TV star, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Omenaa_Mensah
We also had a black deputee in parlament, which is something, considering that almost no Black people live in Poland.
A Black guy, was also a positive character in the 80ies Polish comedy "Alternatywy 4", in which he was portrayed as a nice, hard working, polite guy, exploited by a dodger block governor
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X38fkPGofW4

-Poles actually consider Japanese people to be superior to them. Yes, Poles believe that Poles are inferior to a nation of other race.

-Poles are very positive towards far-East Asian, people such as Chinese or Vietnamese. The Polish belief about them is that they're polite, hard working and peaceful.

-Black boxer is considered by Polish alt-right to be Polish patriot, and generally to be Polish
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XoXwh7i8PmM

-Polish Tatars is a quite isolated minority who is ethnically Asian, and Muslim by religion. They have lived in Poland for 700 years, they took part in almost every if not every war Poland was at. Their last exclusive unit was destroyed in action in September 1939, WWII. Today, they are recognized, even by the far right, as a living symbol of Polish patriotism and loyalty. Even that right-wing, marionette president Andrzej Duda, praised them in the public TV.

-A Polish phrase that is centuries old, literally claims: "Pole is a person who feels Polish"

Yes. I they're calling Polish nationalism that hardly ever harms anything or anyone, 'Extreme Nationalism', how are they going to call Nazi nationalism? Super-Extreme Nationalism Level 3 ?

"a mixed black girl is a TV star" so Poland isn't a racist country  you think I'm a glupi to not know what everyone knows which is how racist Polish society is?

You've cherry picked a single example, and ignored numerous others, while have provided no evidence for your claimed Polish racism, so who is głupi here? Your final argument is a sort of argumentation that exactly was used in history to incite hatred towards other nations, to initiate persecutions and wars.

All you've done to support your point, was quoting an article who's author did not provide any example of people of other races being persecuted or otherwise discriminated in Poland. He just exaggerates in his opinions, doesn't seem to know the difference between racism and xenophobia, and who apparently is stupid enough, not to see the difference between people who are afraid of interference from foreign governments, and Nazis murdering people for not belonging to their nation, after attacking their countries.

Dr Bawer Aondo-Akaa is also worth listening on the matter of Polish nationalism:
