Sellotape on car

I have some scratches on my car that I want to repair with scratch spray etc, but I do not want to put the product on the area surrounding which does not need to be repaired, if I were to put sellotape on my car surrounding the area I want to fix, will it damage the paint work on my car?
The tape you want is called masking tape and will come off nicely when you are finished painting. Don't use duct tape or anything else.
You can get masking tape for £1 or less

Scratch spray? Have you developed a magic product that removes scratches and put it in a can?
