86 hours of gaming in the past 2 weeks

As long as it isn't interfering with other activities - for example, work, relationships, exercise - then all's good.

Seems fine to me, as long as you are doing exercise, eating, seeing family members or friends every so often then why not? It’s the summer and enjoy yourself. If you cut down on gaming then you’d just be watching you tube or Netflix anyway, same thing in essence.

I'm playing quite a few at the moment including: Rainbow Six siege, Astroneer, Prey and very rarely Minecraft

What do you play Siege on?? I've probably put 100+ hours into Siege since the start of the holiday. I work for my dad from about 11-4, go gym and watch tv, and then play from 6 to about 2am. My dad thinks I play way too much but there's nothing else for me to do except watch TV, which is no better than playing PS4 lol

Haha nice, at least you have a job though. I play Siege on PC, although I do have it on Ps4
It's only excessive if you're doing it to the detriment of your health, short-term or long-term, physically, financially or environment-wise.

It's addiction if you're doing it for the sake of doing it, and you can't go days or weeks without going crazy.

If you're just doing it because it's fun and you have time for fun, then you're literally doing a lesiurely activity during leisure time.

Additionally, if you find yourself being a 'completionist' or 'Achievement hunter' trying to get your arbitrarily defined '100%' of a game, then that's an underlying self-esteem issue rather than addiciton.

I racked up about 53 days (yes that's actually correct) worth of playing time on COD MW2 *alone* and I turned out alright...I think. But yeah as long as you're exercising and not neglecting any other responsibilities its all good
It is quite a lot, but as long as your grades are fine and you make sure you have time to do other things you should be fine. This isn't because there is anything inherently 'bad' about gaming that means it has to be severely limited, but it's always important to do a variety of different things including exercise, which you are doing at the gym so that's fine.

If you were to get 8 hours of sleep every day, you'd still have 10 hours to do things each day besides gaming. Although I'm aware lots of people sleep more in the holidays, you'll still have quite a lot of time for other things.

Only 53 days? I have 119 in one save of FM 2007 alone, and the save before it was just as long. Siddown!
If you have nothing else to be doing then you may as well, so long as you're not self sabotaging (choosing it over socialising etc). It's about the amount of time other people would spend watching telly and such.

There's certainly some truth to this. Lots of people (often parents of gamers *cough*) watch hours of TV every day and sit around eating on the sofa for almost the whole day without actually engaging with it. Often nobody thinks anything of that, but when someone spends a similar amount of time playing games (which are clearly much more interactive) it's thought of as 'bad' and excessive.

It works out at about 5.9 hours a day which I know is a lot, but is it at the point where it's excessive? It is the summer holidays after all, and I don't use my phone or watch much YouTube. I play this much whilst having enough time to occasionally go out with friends and go to the gym every other day so I'm not sat inside all day. Do I need to play less

I'd say you're absolutely fine as you are. As you said, it's summer holidays. You're supposed to be spending the days how you want. If you were a shut-in who hadn't seen the light in three weeks, I'd say you might want to open a window and take a break. Six hours isn't excessive. Holidays are for relaxing and playing games.

"Come watch TV with us, or go for a drink, you have to interact with people."

"I play with and talk to friends every day online."

"Those are all paedophiles."

"I'm over 16... and one of them's a lesbian..."

I'm pretty good at them, but starting up a YouTube/Twitch channel and getting your name out there is tremendously difficult as you have to ask yourself the question "Why would anyone want to watch me over other established channels"?

Make your channel unique and different from other gaming channels.
