Got an offer for engineering at Wadham College, who else is coming to wadham?
@Scotney is an Oxford Mum, whose son attended wadham. She can tell you what it’s like there

Oh it is simply the best location straight out the side door and you are right in the action zone. Wadham has its own pub The Kings Arms and you are a stones throw from Turf Tavern a student favourite. Kebabs no worries. The Kebab van is less than 5 mins away and they will soon know your order on sight,! The owner parks his nice car in Holywell Street next to our Wadham. Clubs are all near by and Wadham has its own bops every second week. Brush up on your Free Nelson Mandela as it is college anthem and practice picking up people and balancing them on your shoulders!

Really @Scotney? I didn't know Wadham owned The Kings Arms! My elder son loves it there, especially sitting outside and downing a pint. We were there on Sunday, in fact (and in our favourite, the Turf Tavern - wouldn't be caught dead in any other eaterie!)

So Free Nelson Mandela is Wadham's anthem? Not surprised it has a woke one! Oriel's is "I want you back" by the Jacksons. When that comes on, the response is to take your shirt off, and wave it over your head. Not sure if this applies to women, too. If so, ladies make sure you are wearing a T Shirt/non see-through bra underneath :s-smilie:

Haha 😂 thanks, oxford just seems like so much fun and the sense of community there is something that I am very much looking forward to, do you know how much pints are in oxford on average? Or how do u save ur money on a night out in oxford?

I'm not sure how much a pint costs in Oxford, but I think it is more than up North where I come from. Colleges have bars, where drinks are cheaper and you can talk to your fellow students. My younger son (medic) saves money because he doesn't have much time for going out (workload heavy). He will spend time socialising with friends.

If you like classical concerts check out candlelight concerts at the Exeter College (so-called "hot" chapel) Reduced rates for students (£10)

If you like dancing try the college bops You may need fancy dress (another source of fun).

Another fun night out was the history society evening where there were cocktails based on famous battles. By the time everybody had finished mixing the drinks up, they all tasted more like the mud of the battlefield...

Oxford is not just all work and no play, and it will be the sense of community you will miss most when you leave. But for now - enjoy!!!

Kebab place is Hassan's original which has its own trip advisor page! In terms of pints depends where you go like anywhere!

Yes, anybody who is anybody has experienced a Hassan's at some point in their Oxford drunkenness.

Too much information. Unless you are suggesting your son's behaviour in getting a college employee to clean up after him is consdiered "fun" - or just an illustration of the benefits of having servants?

Sorry, I shouldn't have said what I said. Not that I was suggesting, or thinking of the points you just made.
