Plagiarism on Creative Piece

So, I'm currently writing a creative piece for my English folio, and the style/themes are extremely similar to a (rather obscure) author I like. Would that be picked up on as plagiarism? Nothing is copied word for word.

For a Higher piece, as long as the words aren't copied you'll be fine. That said, however, if your story, themes and character tropes etc mirror what this obscure writer has written, then technically you'd be committing plagiarism and this would definitely be punished at university. But, for high school you should be fine even though I wouldn't encourage doing this on an ethical basis (unless you discovered this writer after already having conceived your story etc).
