i don't think France or Ireland would back any deal that doesn't have the backstop because it is too important to them that trade across to Ireland and then into France isn't interrupted

Now they have to make a decision.

We have to leave. If we don't, we spit at the faces of the British people. It is abhorrent that a democratic nation would descend to the level of authoritarian regimes with no democracy.

Queen has approved. This is the start of a new era for the UK.

A democratic nation would allow MPs to play their democratic part in the process; suspending parliament is not inline with this.

The government like to throw that same line in our faces in every speech about Brexit, but is that still the case as the referendum was over 3 years ago, so how long is that result still the same as the will of the British people especially as there are many more young people who definitely are not in support of Brexit

But the MPs have played their part and failed. They had 3 chances with the May deal and they rejected it 3 times. Why should the country continue to bear the pain for an incompetent Parliament who have refused to honour the will of the people.

Tell me what the MPs can do now that they have not already done. A group wants Brexit by all means, another group wants remain by all means, another group wants a Deal, another group wants a second referendum and so on. We were going through the motion with no real outcome. To me, the grand plan was to continue down the indecisive route until the electorate are fed up, then we remain.

Just look at the recent discussions. They have gone from VoNC to other vehicles to stop No Deal. Yet, we have no clear plan on what will happen.

Let us not go down that road. There is excuse for every decision made.

which is exactly the reason why referendums are a bad idea in the first place because they are supposed to be a clear show of public opinion but they just end in more indecision and uncertainty . MPs are elected to represent the views of their constituents so if the majority vote for a candidate with their views what is the need for a referendum

but we live in a representative democracy which means a referendum all together directly opposes our political system

Yes, but we know that does not happen. MPs go with their own views and not their constituents. It is the debate that is happening now, should representatives follow their electorate or their own personal opinions.

Im not saying we shouldn't leave I'm just expressing that referendums just cause uncertainty and chaos such as the situation we're in now

Brexiteers talked about:

- taking back control
- parliamentary sovereignty
- the EU needing us more than we need them, and therefore they'll give us a deal easily.

These are all untrue.

- "taking back control" - we now have to beg EU countries for individual trade deals, which will never be better than the ones we have now.
- "parliamentary sovereignty" - BoJo suspending parliament, which is the complete antithesis of parliamentary sovereignty. He, and other brexiteers, threatened to suspend parliament in order to prevent no-deal from being blocked (https://twitter.com/JolyonMaugham/status/1166650859968581637) and they have done just that. The argument that "this happens each year" does not make sense, because Parliament votes for conference recess and are now prevented from doing that, not to mention we are currently amidst a constitutional crisis.
- "the EU needing us more than we need them, and therefore they'll give us a deal easily" - now the Brexiteers are claiming people voted for no-deal (not what the leave campaign said, not what Con/Labour manifestos said in 2017).
