Lana Del Rey just came out against furries and called them ‘gross’

US singer Lana Del Rey has come out against the furry community, calling them “gross”.

During a livestream with her fans on September 4, someone asked if Lana was a furry and her reply was clear: “I’m not a furry, you guys are gross.”

The Grammy-nominated artist was mid-vape when she said that furries are gross.

Lana Del Rey’s sixth studio album, Norman ****ing Rockwell, was released last week, August 30.

She previously won two Brit awards, for international breakthrough act and international female solo artist, in 2012 and 2013.

Her last album, Lust for Life, was nominated for a Grammy award in 2018.

A gay black furry was recently crowned the best Esports player in the world.

Dominique “SonicFox” McLean won Best eSports Player at The Game Awards 2018, and gave a wonderful pro-LGBT+ speech.

They said: “I wanna give a super shoutout to all my LGBTQ+ friends that have always helped me through life.

“Obviously, I’m a furry, so shout out to the furries.

“Guess all I gotta really say is that I’m gay, black, a furry pretty much everything a Republican hates and the best eSports player of the whole year, I guess. Thank you so much!”

SoncFox, one of the most popular professional online gamers, came out as non-binary on Twitter on September 3.

Never has a thread confused me so much.

What is a furry?
What has mid-vape got to do with it?
Who’s SoncFox?
What does the Q stand for in LGBTQ+?

So hold up, this is a "community" who like to wear furry jumpsuits and now made out as an oppressed group of peoples?

A furry is someone who likes to dress up as an animal. Think the costumes mascots wear and it's similar to that. Basically cosplaying.
Furries get a lot of hate, idk why really I guess people just like to laugh at anyone who isn't 'normal' by their definition. People also get them confused with 'otherkin' who are people that actually think they are an animal....
No idea
No idea
Q = queer or questioning. Personally I dislike the word queer as I think it's a slur but a lot of people have 'reclaimed' it and now use it as a sort of umbrella for the whole LGBT+ community. Questioning is people who aren't sure of their gender/sexuality.
Furries are seen as part of the LGBT+ community.

Good. This article is nonsense, I can't see how anyone can take it seriously.

She didn't call furries "gross", she called the people (fans) asking her if she was one "gross".

Furries claiming to be part of LGBT is disgusting. Being a furry is a choice, being gay is not.
Did she lie??? No.

I myself am not a furry, but I support furries. I am pansexual so I understand what’s it’s like to to be misunderstood and questioned. I can relate to furries because of this. I believe that furries aren’t gross they are amazing you guys spend so much time on your fur suits and it’s amazing what yall do. SO IGNORE THE HATERS. You guys have supporters too.
Probably came across all the fan art of Llama Del Ray.

Im pansexual and a part of me agrees with this but I do disagree with how you approached the statement. You made it sound very insulting and most LGBTQ+ People believe in supporting others and being a community. Not attacking each other.

I was blunt with the statement because of how absurd it is. Furries are a fandom, no different to Bronies, potter heads, twilight... not a minority.

1) very very broad definition - interest in the concept of anthropomorphic animals, e.g. Zootopia but imagine they're a little more human-shaped. So some of them invent their own character, some even get a suit - but only the minority.
I think the reason she called them gross is because furry porn exists

2) depends what she's vaping I guess

3) some twitch streamer

4) I thought it was "questioning" but maybe not

Sonicfox is considered one of the best fighting game players. He’s also gay, non binary and a furry. He usually gets praised for his skills and not everything else

But Furries is just a fandom. I think it would be absurd to consider them part of the LGBTQ+ community, especially considering the history of discrimination and hatred towards people who are part of said community. If you would consider Furries part of LGBTQ+ why not Goths? Bronies? Jedi?

Spoiler

I am not surprised she is anti-furry. The madness has to end somewhere.

I don’t believe they belong in our community but I believe you could say it in a less insulting way. Because we aren’t a discriminative community and we don’t really insult people.
