Massive good luck for next year, you seem to take a lot of smaller modules compared to Durham! Our lowest is worth 10 credits (most 20), and we still only have to do 120
Sorry things didn't work out at the end of the year I can imagine it was very frustrating. Glad you're happy with your accommodation for Warwick though I know a few people that aren't so pleased with theirs!

I was sorry to hear about STEP, but **** it - make it a mission to prove your first sentence wrong, and it won't be your loss.

I just copied the list from my previous thread. I'll look back over and remove people. No problem. Think there's at least one deleted account in there.

Yeah, Warwick has quite a good selection of modules and you have plenty of room to take more exotic options in the first year. But I'm only really interested enough in maths/stats. Doubt there's much difference in the content though - Durham probably just bunches them together more. In the third year most of the modules are 15 cats not 12 so that might be an issue if I haven't decided what area to specialise in yet. Too early to plan but I might try to do a y3 module or two in y2 to fit stuff in. No idea how easy it is though.

Yeah, it was so close and was a massive knock to my confidence. Have to move on though. Yeah, a lot of people looking to get en suites were disappointed and there's loads of people trying to swap. Probably a majority of people I've been speaking to got Rootes, so I'm sure it'll be great. Will probably help me not be a recluse too.

Durham only let us choose 20 credits this year, and I don't think it's much better next year. Yeah I doubt there's significant difference, but I'd be interested to know if it means you end up with a load more exams or if you just have multiple modules in each exam since we just have one exam per module really. I haven't even thought about second year yet...I don't think we get much flexibility there either Really did not choose Durham for the flexibility of the course...

I'm not surprised That's the best way to go though. Glad the people you know are in your hall though Could do with that to stop me in my hall tbh

Thinking of taking a physics module (either Introduction to Astronomy or Introduction to Particle Physics), or not doing ProgSci and doing both. They were my favourite topics at A-level and the exam paper I looked at looked pretty chill. The thing is that the Warwick physics course starts off pretty slowly. If you've done Astro or Particle in A-level as I have, you've already covered a fair amount of the course. Would prefer to spend just a little reviewing then being plunged into new stuff, like a lot of the maths courses. Not sure if there's too much point in doing it for that reason, but it does mean I have a cushion if another exam doesn't go too well. Wouldn't want it to trigger a subject-based crisis either.

Are they pre-requisites for physics modules later on?

Yeah think I'll just restart it considering a lot of people won't be using TSR at uni.

I think Warwick is just known for having a large selection of modules/flexible courses. Analysis is split into Analysis 1 and Analysis 2, with Analysis 1 examined alongside Sets and Numbers in January. Otherwise it's one per module. I think I prefer it that way, since the most that I can mess up in one exam is 10%. (well slightly less than that because of coursework and assignments) Yeah I think ahead a lot, maybe too much. I like everything planned in advance and long-term goals academically but otherwise I'm quite spontaneous I guess.

Ahh I suppose having January exams makes it less bad, although that's still a lot of exams! That's definitely a big positive, we'll be able to mess up closer to 20% at a time and that'll be a case for two thirds of my exams It's good to have planned ahead, as long as you're willing to be flexible with it if something else comes up I just don't do decisions, let alone decisions in advance

One of them looks chill (analysis 1/sets and numbers), know a lot of the content from further reading. But mathematical techniques, which is actually examined in december, looks like it's mostly set theory and logic [so mostly new stuff for me] with a bit of A-level proof tagged on and the paper I looked at looked annoying. A lot of truth tables. I thought it was just meant to catch people who didn't do FM up (because FM isn't required for mathstat), but that doesn't seem to be the case. I prefer to delay things as much as possible so not too much of a fan, but they're not the most demanding modules so I'm fine with it.

It's basically just provisional stuff to motivate me. I can't hack not knowing where I could be in the future, I have to have something to aspire to something even if it might change otherwise I'd be a bit lost and unmotivated. I missed both goals so far so hopefully my goal of a good first year average (intentionally nebulous) won't suffer a similar fate.
