Following allegations that Trump used diplomatic procedures to dig up dirt on democrat primary candidate Joe Biden.

The Democratic party are in big trouble, this is the new radical wing pushing the hierarchy into the extremes. The genie is out of the bottle and the Squad and all the rest are determined to get rid of Pelosi and the old order, AOC had a tweet over the weekend calling the party's inaction a 'national scandal'. None of this has any real value, it's internal posturing and positioning by two factions and ends up having nothing to do with Trump at all. The young generation of Democrats is out to push the old out of the way and Pelosi is just trying to hang on as best as best as she can. Trump isn't going to be impeached over anything, we've been here before more times than we could count. For internal consumption by the lefties only.

The BBC do a fairly good job at burying the full facts in order to fulfill their political agenda, nobody will have the foggiest idea of what it's all about by reading their link. That's the idea, you're only supposed to know Trump is no good. And then people go on about Fox, at least they make no bones about their political leanings but the BBC types like to pretend they are above all that. As for getting blocked? Of course. Hes turned the party hard right and they follow him implicitly and due to needing a majority of some description i doubt this will come to anything. Then again that might possibly be for the best. Better to wait until hes out of office and throw the book at him instead of take the very real risk of his neo nazi and crack pot followers tsaking their guns out. then again hes fallen foul of the gun lobby now :lol:

If the Dems can navigate these proceedings with skill (and one would hope so if they being led by Pelosi), then this could be a win for them. All of Trump's scandals can be rehashed, right before the election year, force moderate Republicans in swing seats into defending an evidently guilty man, and distract from Trump's economic talking points. Lets be realistic here, Donald Trump is not going to be impeached, not with this Senate, but these proceedings can put him and his party on the defensive and improve the chances of a Democratic win next year. Not to mention it distracts from the miserable specter of Democrats slinging mud at each other in the primary.

My understanding of what needs to happen for it to succeed are such that it will fail. Though the allegations will be repeated often enough and could harm the re-election bid of Donald Trump.

I only wish we could impeach Mr Johnson, as he is not a Conservative in his behaviour, but a disgrace and unfit for public office.

And there in lies the issue. Baring the most stubborn refusal to face facts, there's no argument he's run America like a mafia boss and is unfit for office, but impeachment needs a 2/3rds majority, and it's unlikely that the republicans will support it, they've already thrown themselves behind this criminal in chief at the expense of all normal process and decency by denying Obama his Supreme Court nomination

I mean it would be almost comical if this wasnt ongoing in the titular head of the 'free democratic' world. This is the kind of clap trap youd expect in some tin pot dictatorship... although with that being said i guess he is a tin pot president so there we go.
I think the saddest thing though is that, at present the Democrats have absolutely no credible answer to him... or too many depending on your view but either way it reaches the same conclusion.

What he doesn't mention is that there was an investigation over a business where his son, who had been expelled from the Navy on cocaine charges and without any visible connection to the world of business, was involved. You really need to grow up and develop a better understanding of politics beyond your simplistic right is good left is bad. This isn't about winning or losing. This is about whether a president adused his position of power, an allegation supported by the White House's own transcript.

I think he would have asked for it in a more covert way this meant anything, he has been subjected to two years of Russian Collusion hoax with associates dragged out of bed and offices ransacked for nothing, he may be sore at that. The Democrats paid a foreign agent to make up some muck they could use against him, lots of international lies in there.

It's one of those where people who would like to see him impeached for breathing will make a big fuss, his supporters won't and nobody else cares. Lots of dynamics in the Democratic party, their radical wing wants to see Trump out but Biden too. Trump actually fancies him as an opponent.

Trump didn't say it in a more covert way because the Democrats didn't move towards impeachment after his previous scandal, and he doesn't believe his supporters will care what he does, so he figures he'll just get away with anything, why bother trying to make it hugely covert?
