Wearing Hunter’s wellies casually

I bought some Hunter wellies recently, in prep for the wet weather, as I live out in the country side and like going for walks.

I know Hunter’s are also a fashionable accessory. Would it be odd to also wear them when going into town casually? I might be going canvassing in town this week with the party I’m supporting and I wonder if it would look okay to wear my wellies. I currently don’t have a pair of casual boots, so I’m thinking my wellies. By town, I mean the big town, not the village that I live in.

Thanks. The weather app shows the sun, so I guess I’ll stick to my usual pumps.
