Extinction Rebellion are stupid

You can litera lly just tell they are so out of touch with everyone else. They protest on week days, so you know they're all middle to upper class, otherwise they'd be at work. Their demands are practically unachieveable. They claim to care for animal welfare to the point where they literally hold a funeral for a ****ing dead animal yet they eat at McDonalds. They do literal yoga on closed roads. They are now claiming they are the best chance at overthrowing capitalism. God help us, if they really are the best chance at overthrowing capitalism, communism really is dead

I agree, they are completely contradicting what they are fighting for.
extinction rebellion are a big dum dum and make head sore from protests!!!! i don't drive cross bridge cause dum protests close road!!!!!!11!!!!!!1!!!

...

Anyway, foaming at the mouth aside. All publicity is good publicity as far as Extinction Rebellion are concerned and all the outrage about them on this forum and elsewhere is doing them a world of good. Honestly I don't think the protests would have lasted this long if people weren't talking about it so much.
I’d say they’re pretty smart, they know how to get people talking & they’ve gotten a load of attention. whether the governments will actually do anything regarding climate change is another question though

One thing is certain: if no-one protests then definitely nothing will be done.
Criminal, disruptive, attention seeking, alarmist and an unnecessary burden to England's already overstretched law enforcement resources.
I had no idea that Extinction Rebellion were bragging about hoping to overthrow capitalism.
The idea makes me howl with laughter.
The marxists, trots and other reds must be dying of embarrassment.
Maybe E.R will prove themselves to be the gift that keeps giving.
Lmao.

As a socialist/marxist myself, the whole idea of extinction rebellion is stupid and is damaging to our reputation if this really is their true motivation behind it. I've long thought about the praxis of getting involved in XR simply to make it into a far left general anticapitalsit group, but I've come to the conclusion that it is impossible given the demographic of the group...white, middle class, liberals... Half of them are just concerned with animal welfare not the environment.

I hate to say this, but I'm sure I speak for the majority of working class people when I say protecting the environment isn't their concern. It is my concern, but why should they care what the planet is like in 10 years when they don't even know if they'll make it to the end of the week?

The XR protestors are completely ignorant of how unachieavble their goals are, and how in order for their to be a much greener climate third world countries will not be allowed to develop and will be forced to stay how they are.
Can some mod move this thread we already have a mature extinction rebellion thread and this one says nothing new.
They cost money to the taxpayers and disruption to people trying to do their jobs, just makes it harder to support them and harder for the government to act on climate change
You know the easiest way to deal with them is to come round the negotiating table and work towards climate control. If BoJo was serious about climate change, he could sort this out in a week.

No he couldn't because it is physically and practically impossible to be carbon neutral by 2025
ER are Bob on in terms of what they are campaigning for. However, saving the environment can only be done by winning hearts and minds, not p1ssing everyone off.
What wrong with being middle class their many working/upper class people who believe the rubbish about not vaccinate children.
Are you deliberately being an obtuse fw or does it come naturally?

I have to admit I understand *some of* what they apparently stand for, but I find it so problematic that they protest on the streets of London on week days and cause so many delays and disruptions which mean the working class are impacted far more than anyone else. For a group who are supposedly so liberal, they sure seem to have an upper middle class outlook on how to protest. The police are too busy arresting them for doing bloody yoga and generally being nuisances, that they're down on people they already don't have to fight knife crime which is such a big issue! Extinction rebellion aren't thinking of the implications of their actions, they're enjoying the day off work and dancing in the roads under the guise of protesting something they most likely don't know anything about. If they want to make a point, sure, go ahead, but not at the expense of working class civilians and the already-strained police!

Is this coming from the chap who just said that spewing countless gigatonnes of CO2 into the atmosphere was 'a net benefit'?
