Difference between January and September intake

Which university and course are you interested in?

Badly wanted to go LSE, i have all the required qualifications. But they don’t have January intake. So I might go to Coventry because I can no longer wait for a few months as i had a gap year already.

So... for instance, I got into Coventry because on their website it didn’t say until when their January intakes are; but I searched on the internet normally they said you’ll have 2 months then go back for September.
It would be better if the January intake continues until I finish the first year and not have 6 months (foundation like) lectures as I’m ahead of other students already.

Do you know if Coventry University’s January intake is straight up (9 months period?)

If you're a realistic candidate for LSE I'd say you were better off applying for a september start there and other stronger universities and getting a job to tide you over till then if required.

I've known people who started in January and January starters joined the september starters in the september starters second semester modules - if there are any introductory modules that the september starters did in september you'd be doing those the september after... i.e. in reversed order.
The majority of people in your modules will have started in september and already formed their friendship groups and found their way around the uni systems.before you show up. There's a good chance you'll be less well inducted into the swing of uni which can cause you to feel disengaged.

What subject do you want to study? Coventry only has January starts for a few of it's courses and not all of those are in Coventry.

Accounting and Finance, I called them on Friday and they said they have availability for that course.

Thats my area of knowledge. Not as bad as it might be but I'd guess there are a list of about 30 universities I would aim at for that course.

Do you know anymore universities that offers January intake? Please badly needed. thank you!

Brick universities in the UK? Very few - I think Brighton used to (might have been for overseas students only) and maybe uni South Wales. For none brick I guess open university and London External might be possibilities but both seem to have become less flexible over the years.

Why the mad rush to start?

Personal issues, my parents didn’t know that I’m not studying atm, they’re coming here in the UK in December. I need to be in uni by then. (Asian parents) complicated issue. I’ll be sent back to my country they found out. Im being serious 🤦🏻*♀️😂 I’m still an international student so they’re sending money for my university payment.

E.g After I’ve finished the January, then I’ll go back in September for the 2nd year of undergraduate right (same year)? Having friends wouldn’t be that bad as I’m considering living on campus and I’m pretty extroverted. Thank you!!!
