This is a genuine AMA, not one to get attention I just wondered, because I’m asked a lot. I get asked a lot how it was and wondered if anyone on here had any questions?

By the way I got both injections and still got measles, my parents aren’t against vaccinations.

Do you know the science between why and how? Is it because of a different strain?
Is it like chicken pox? When did you get it?
Were you very sick for a year or two afterwards?

Why and how: it happens to be the 1% of all those who receive the vaccines, it’s the same strain as well

I got it a few months ago and I have been very ill since getting measles, I have to get more vaccinations because measles wipes your vaccination bank as the doctor told me. I was off school and was ill for 3 weeks recently. I got a viral infection and it didn’t go away fully for 3 weeks.

I had measles before and during GCSEs, my school didn’t discuss with me that they were going to make me resist the whole of year 11 again until my dad went into school to stop them. I was also very lucky in that I made a good recovery, the doctors were worried that I might have received blindness when my eyes started to hurt badly.

There is also a follow up illness to measles called SSPE, a particular type of encephalitis for which there is no known cure and comes a few years after measles and those who get it can expect to only live for two years as there is a gradual decline in health until a person is declared brain dead

Thankfully Boris is trying to pass a law to make it illegal to not vaccinate your children, part of it is barring children from school until they are vaccinated

Sounds interesting, probably not the reaction you expected. What happened for your studies, did you have extenuating circumstances? How could they make you redo it without telling you?

I have to redo some, failed 3 but I’m allowed to have my mock grade a 7 in comp sci as that was the first exam and couldn’t revise as I was in hospital, I didn’t get extenuating circumstances but I have a letter from several different doctors and specialists attached to my results. It’s not all bad, I got an 8 and two 7s

No I don’t, don’t worry, the doctors are still pretty worried and the chances of getting it a very high in my current situation

It would be a real shame if I did get SSPE, although I might, you just never know really

sorry to hear you contracted this. it sounds that you feel strongly about people being vaccinated? but just to understand can I ask, do you want the vaccine to be looked at again and made safer so people do not contract it at all, or would you advise to others that it is technically "safe" but there is a small risk which we have to accept?
