Nothing set the industry on fire this year. Same old ****

Sounds like an issue with the kinds of music you listen to.
Unsurprisingly chart music is stagnant as ever but lots of good **** came out this year.
Knocked Loose's new album proved that Hardcore is really making a ressurgence.
Denzel Curry released a more typical rap album which whilst I didn't like it anywhere near as much as I liked TA13OO last year was fantastic.
Anamanaguchi dropped their first album in 6 years and it's pretty good.
Also seems like literally everyone but me loved the new Slipknot album whilst I thought it was just ok with Solway firth being the only standout track
