I’ve applied for PPE at Exeter and my predicted grades are all A’s this year, but I haven’t heard anything back and I’m kinda worried as the PPE interview is December 8th meaning that I should be finding out about interviews in mid November (right about now). Has anyone that’s applied for the same course/ college as me heard anything yet?

I hate to be an idiot but academic12, but is the implication here that Brasenose dates of interview invitation will be similar or the same to Exeter? If you don’t know it’s totally cool as your reply has put me much at ease as it is

I have received my interview for biochem from Exeter college on the 14th so there is some difference.

I wasn't saying it was definitely right, but may put some people at ease if they haven't heard anything. are you an international student? x

Applying for English as an international student (Singapore), for the A levels they didn't tell me my predicted grades but I'm 99% sure it was 3 As (SG A levels don't have A*s). I haven't got an invite yet and I've applied to Newcastle, York, Durham, and UCL as well, with offers from the first 3!

Why did you guys apply for Exeter! I applied mainly for the tutor but now I'm lowkey jelly of other colleges which have kitchens like Worcester hahaha. Also if you went to the open day what did you think of the place! I'm an international student so I couldn't go

I applied because it seemed to be quite a liberal place. Had no idea about the kitchen though! I visited it by accident as part of a summer school and took some pics. Funnily enough I remember thinking “like hell I’m applying here!” but it was a lovely place. I’m sure if you go there you’ll be just as charmed as I am by it’s architecture.

Did you apply specifically for one tutor or was there another tutor related reason?

I visited York on an open day and it’s a great place! Great campus and links to the city.

I loved the architecture, the accommodation seemed really nice and the statistics for biochem seemed quite reasonable

I applied for a specific English tutor! (Ms Jeri Johnson). She's a fellow there and I'm interested in her specialisms + she was featured in a Guardian article and in a podcast I listen to so that gave me a really good impression! But honestly if I get pulled I wouldn't mind any other college at all, and I think it might be fairly unlikely that I get her as my tutor, as she seems pretty senior? (If I get in at all anyway). I liked the fact that it was liberal too!

Hahaha your story about the summer school is hilarious, what made you change your mind?

Seems like the gorgeous architecture is a common thread here... That's so nice to hear as an int. student because I don't really know how the college looks lke spatially. I've always been curious about the admission rates at specific college thing. Like does it really matter? I think the way they do choose applicants is that they rank everyone within the course then offer places to the top whichever number, and pull people if there isn't enough space in the college they applied to? So technically it shouldn't matter...? I don't know for sure though, the whole process is very much shrouded in mystery haha

That’s an entirely reasonable reason for wanting to go to Exeter. I wish I was that logical in my thinking! I’m sure if you get in and don’t get her at first, you will eventually or perhaps you can send off some emails asking for her help or a collaboration. Flattery gets you everywhere.

I have the worst reasons for applying for Exeter. After that debacle earlier this year, I was faced with having to choose a college so looked at the student boards on here and came to a judgment based on the experiences of the students. If I’m honest I wouldn’t mind any college as long as it’s not cliquey and conservative.

Will you be attending interviews over here if you’re invited?

For goodness sake I just want to have the Oxford level of education I don’t mind which college I’m stuck with overall!

I'll be having a Skype interview if I get invited! As much as I would love to go over and stay in Exeter for a week , its way too costly and impractical to actually fly over haha
