You need to be careful making assumptions. Firstly, I am in education and yes, I do see the behaviour you talk about. But I don't attribute it to kids going to school to do stuff they don't want to / can't do. I put it down to the fact that these kids have not grown up in an environment that puts value or expectations on good behaviour. In other words - those kids don't know how to behave.

And yes - I do value degrees. But at the same time I find the notion that if you can't do a degree, a trade is for you is misleading. Tradespeople are highly skilled people. There are reams of regulations that trades must adhere to. And similarly they are working with appliances and equipment that require technical understanding and good literacy and maths skills to use. It takes on average three years to train as an electrician - the same as a degree and although only level 3 qualifications are required the idea that academics do degrees and everyone else does trades is a misnomer.

The problem we have in our economy is there are no longer opportunities for people with no or low skills. I think as soon as we start to accept this and put in place interventions to get everyone on side, we can move forward. But this idea that degrees are a waste and there should be more vocational stuff is rubbish. Vocational jobs are now highly specialised, high skill jobs that require rigorous and applied training, not the happy-go-lucky turn-up-and-smile attitude our parents had the benefit of enjoying.

But the issue is that no matter how hard schools try they cannot change that behaviour that has already been stamped into them from birth. I completely agree that these kids don't know how to behave, but there is nothing that 6 hours at a school can do when they still spend the vast majority of their time in that environment. The sooner they give up trying to do that in mainstream education the better. Ideally, these individuals should be taken out of mainstream, and in some cases they already are. The sad thing is that the behaviour threshold for getting into these schools is ridiculous.

I would disagree, we have opportunities for people with no or low skills, however, quite frankly, some people who have no or low skills don't want to work, or don't want to do the jobs suitable to them. We have a group of lazy, workshy grown up chavs show would rather sit their lives on the benefit system than do a low skilled job. Then that's where immigration comes into it, because they same people that complain that 'immigrants are taking all the jobs' are those that won't or refuse to do those jobs.

That's not actually true. For many of the kids in my school, the only stable environment they have is school. It is a place where there is consistent application of the rules with consequences being dealt out fairly and without shouting. I would argue that 6 hours of this influence is better than leaving said kids to it in their own home because outside of school they don't stand a chance.

That's because you probably live in a urban city based area where most people will be Labour supporters. However most of the UK is rural/countryside and that's where more conservative voters live so you wouldn't be likely to ever speak to them. On the twitter factor, the majority of twitter users are aged between 16-18 so most people would be too young too vote. That's why the voting age will not be lowered to 16 because the majority of young people would vote left wing. Hence the reason why the Tories have quietly dominated the past 2 elections.

It is a stable environment, but for not enough time. Schools simply cannot rehabilitate or improve the behaviours of most students with issues because they don’t have the time to intervene. Either way, most of these kids should not be in mainstream education, sympathy aside for their circumstances, it completely ruins the educational environment in most cases for brighter students who could do so much more. Ten to twenty years ago you’d have one or two students per class who were a problem, now it’s at least five or six.

Tend to agree, unfortunately. The opposition being Nazi Nigel, Bankruptcy Comrade Corbyn or Jo 'no-one' Swinson!

It must be the most bizarre choice of available candidates in any uk general election ever! All the choices are awful!
Well I am a Labour supporter but my mum has been voting Conservatives for the last 6 years, been trying to change her mind but she is like nope, you would be surprised that many people look/behave like Labour supporters

Considering the state of the opposition... Nazi Nigel, a Mad Marxist or a girl with no policies... quite likely!

Is this the prominent republican (very small R there) who is named after Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth the Second, Queen of Great Britain and Northern Ireland by the Grace of God and Defender of the Faith?

Dei Gratia, Fidei Defensor! DGFD on the coins. A title given to Henry VIII by the Pope, believe it or not!

You win on this one... Tory, I'm sorry to say. Can't see anyone else capable of preventing us from turning into a poverty stricken little Russia. Corbyn's argument is it will cost a fortune but create lots of new jobs. Er… Jeremy, unemployment is at an all time low so who is going to occupy all these new jobs? One guess... more immigrants!

We will both be voting the same way, but I look at it as the least worst option, sounds like you do also.

We sit on opposite sides of the Brexit fence yet both draw the same conclusion! Wonder if there's a name for that too?

But there are 1.37 million people unemployed and also the number of job vacancies has increased. Clearly these "immigrants" are not taking the jobs! Maybe, the screwed up, out of date benefit system needs more reforming?
It looks like Boris Johnson will rule for the next 20 years at this rate. He's becoming an authoritarian leader.
the emerging evidence of Russian support for Labor is turning the British public firmly away from their tainted offering.

Highly unlikely. But i think we will have aTory governmrnt for another decade.
The first past the post system that helps keep the Tories in power shows no sign of being changed by them. Proportional representation or a version of it would stop this country from swinging further to the right and the free market economy being placed above caring for the lives of the less well off.

Russia is universal scapegoat for everything now. It's starting to rival pseudo claims of various 'isms', 'Phobias' and 'ist's'

Agreed... I lost my job due to disability. Would have been happy just with council tax relief but no, no! You can't claim on a basis of zero income... you must also claim ESA to qualify. Er… ok. One year later... you no longer have sufficient contributions to qualify for ESA... you must claim DLA... Hang on... I was happy with council tax relief. Yep... ****ed up and shoots itself in the foot every time.
