Documents prove Japan forced Australian women to be wartime sex slaves

Sex slaves provided to Japan’s army during World War II included women from Australia, Korea, Taiwan and the Philippines as well as Japan according to historical documents reviewed by Kyodo News service.

The documents highlight the Japanese state’s role in the so-called “comfort women” system and show the army asked the government to provide one sex slave for every 70 soldiers.

Imagine growing up after the second world war in a country where thousands upon thousands of your fathers, uncles, grandfather's ,teachers, policemen etc were guilty of rape and murder of women, children and even babies on an industrial scale
Whitewashing it from your national memory was possibly the only way for them to cope with it.
That doesn't explain the whitewashing of it from our knowledge , movies etc.
Everybody knows about the Nazis and the death camps, practically nobody here knows about the rape of Nanking and the millions of Chinese civilians slaughtered in that period.
They were a cruel race beyond most people's comprehension.

They haven't, though? They've very publicly apologised for it a number of times.
I watched a documentary on their war crime records where young(under 30 ) Japanese where asked about it and none of them knew about the horrific things done. Perhaps they were lying.

Nah, it's just that they'll only show the ones who give them the answers they want to portray. You get the same everywhere.
unit 731 springs to mind.

Ive been to the rat-enclosures where they bred the diseases, and the wards where the test subjects were kept.. chilling stuff.

Imagine growing up in a world that supports abuse and enslavement of billions of animals. Ohh we don't need to imagine that unfortunately.

Stop acting like an ass with a shoehorn and go and start a thread on that subject yourself.

Yet just thirty years later the Japanese seemed so utterly harmless and gentle.
It makes you realise that even harmless seeming people are capable of horrific acts in the right circumstances.

So it was just as usual everywhere and any time in history.

Yeah no, slavery in any form was internationally abhorred long before WW2. Japan's treatment of women as sex slaves in comfort stations as well as after the war ended was horrific, and some prominent members of Japanese politics are publicly unapologetic about it.

Here's a scholarly article about Japan's large scale violations. Now it's your turn. Show me this so-called casual slavery in other allied states.

Of course it was horrific. The point is, soldiers were usually doing, what soldiers usually have been doing through whole history. Even during WWII, you had a couple of units that behaved 'properly', while the rest were raping all over the place.
Including the Western Allies, they were either raping or buying women's [censored] for bars of chocolate.

The main difference between the Allies and the Axis, was that the Germans were systematically raping women to terrorise nations, while the Allies' soldiers were raping just because of stress, and their wives or girlfriends being far away.

They’re not the same people though, it was their ancestors, and they have nothing to do with it the same way that most British people have nothing to do with the allied forces and the British empire
this barbaric treatment of women has not died out. today in China the women of the Uighur communities are experiencing industrial levels of abuse from their Han chinese oppressors.

I asked you about slavery and how the allied powers did or didn't keep women for the purpose of sexual gratification. You haven't answered this at all.

Yes, there were hundreds of reported rapes from allied soldiers during WW2. But the women raped by Germany alone outnumber those raped by the Allies in the tens of thousands, despite having less soldiers. It's insulting to suggest that they're anywhere near equal.
