yes chubby doesnt necessarily mean unfit, its slightly overweight. lots of guys who play sports are chubby like rugby players.

all girls at uni seem to go for skinny guys. its not so much a worry as it is just a genuine question about preferences. maybe losing weight will make me more attractive?

most guys at uni are skinny...generally chubbiness increases with every year of age (for both sexes)
if you are obviously bigger than 9 out of 10 guys that will make you seem...niche. You can be more attractive by having other traits e.g. personality, talent to match your size.

Society would love to tell you to lose weight, please spend all your money on weight-loss and make someone else rich doing so.
If you are healthy and fit, and you have a good relationship with food, you don't need to change anything at all - just study hard and enjoy uni

i am physically fit because i play rugby but i do not have a good relationship with food. i have been on and off dieting since i was in my early teens. my parents despised the fact that i was overweight and greatly restricted my food intake which made me crave foods high in carbs and fat even more. i stopped dieting when I turned 15 and i gained everything back. the difference is i exercise so some of it is muscle now but im still chubby of course.

anyways i did not intend for this to be a story about myself i was only interested in how chubby guys are viewed by girls

society has some strong anti-fat messages, it is not easy to socialise with highly contrasting body types due to the stares it attracts -- this may be irrelevant to you depending on the size of women you're with.

do you get involved in meal-planning and cooking food yourself? Home cooking is a lot better for you than anything you can buy ready-made, and that way your diet can be controlled by you in terms of nutrition etc
I think it depends, if someone was rather overweight in an unfit way most girls would probably be less physically attracted to them (still very lovable though and by no means unattractive), but a wider build, a little chub is not at all less attractive that skinny guys and I know many girls who prefer it.
No. I prefer to date people larger than me (so I can use them as a human body pillow 😛) so skinny lads are out.

This!!
Depends. A little overweight but looking like you have physical strength is attractive. It is all about those nice square shoulders.

But having a physique of someone who obviously spends all their time sat on their backsides is just not appealing.
