Best unis for Physics

I don’t know anything about which uni is good for which subject.
So in your own experience or if you know it, what universities are good for physics?

I’m thinking of doing a physics courses that has astronomy/cosmology and theoretical physics.

Plenty of good Physics courses out there, what are your predicted grades, that will help people direct you to the right kind of institution.

Also note that some "straight physics" courses can allow you a lot of freedom to take specialised options in the 3rd and 4th year so you don't necessarily have to take something branded "theoretical physics" or "physics with astronomy" to get what you want.

You need to state what grades you are likely to achieve so some can help. Imperial and Durham tend to be highly rated in these areas. Manchester and Birmingham are also quite highly rated. Your best option is to look into the Complete University guide for Physics and Chemistry.

I’d suggest doing a quick google search of “top unis in UK for physics” , but I’m going through the same problem with chemistry, just don’t know which one to go to

Yeah unfortunately quite a few universities have A*AA requirements for physics, although it's not inconceivable that you could get an offer from them with AAB.
I second Southampton, I think it's a good choice. Also St Andrew's are AAB/AAA for BSc physics so that could be an option...
Are you applying for 2020 entry?

Oh and I just found York is AAB.

Have you considered Lancaster University? We're 2nd/4th for Physics in the UK (according to Guardian/The Times league tables) and 4th for student satisfaction. And our entry requirements are AAB! We have a range of cosmology and theoretical courses so you can pick whatever interests you. All courses are accredited by the Institute of Physics.

Have you considered the University of Kent for Physics? The current entry requirements are slightly below your grades but it could still be a good option for you (possibly as an insurance choice).

worst reason to rule out some very good unis.

But its really fa away Its a 5 hour drive and it will be difficult for me to travel from home. But you are absolutely right.

how often are you intending to travel home?! i only went back on at winter, summer and easter for my uni and it was great
