-A-Levels/BTECs: BTEC Subsidiary/Extended in IT - Predicted Grades D*DD

I do have a question regarding GCSEs, what would the "additional support" be if I haven't received a C in Maths?

Part of my offer included this - "If the GCSE requirements have not been met at the point of entry you will be required to engage with additional support which we will provide".

I am not against this, I am just merely curious what support will be given etc.

I'm from Kent too! :yay:

I believe this may be a few extra lectures/tutorials in your first year to bring you up to the level of mathematics required for your course. We also have a Maths Support service in the library which is open on week days. This service allows staff and students to drop in for any maths assistance that they may require.

If you want to know more about the specific support that is given for students like yourself who haven't received a GCSE Maths C, then I would recommend messaging our Q&A team on [email protected].

Hope that helps, and best of luck with your BTEC this year!

Hey @SamanthaArt1999

Are there any specific questions you have? Unfortunately we study different courses, but myself, @University of Hertfordshire or @Herts PG Student Rep may be able to help!
Did you also have to submit your portfolio, as well? If yes could you give me advice in what to include? I'm applying to Hertfordshire as well.

Hi!

I was just wondering if the MA Animation course, takes on students who don't necessarily come from an animation degree background. My degree is BA Illustration and animation, so I have animated but maybe a little bit behind compared to others as the course focussed more on illustration. I was wondering if this would be ok, to still apply or not?

Also, do we chose the pathways of either being 3D or 2D animation or can we be a mixture?
Also, does the course cover pre-production aspects like storyboarding?

There quite course-specific but any help would be great thank you

Hey @Promise_17

Yes, a portfolio will be required for your applications. Some rare cases exist when a portfolio are required (such as when lecturers are already aware of a continuing student's abilities). However, a portfolio is usually required.

With respect to your portfolio contents, the school recommends "a collection of work demonstrating recent engagement and creative activities in your intended study area". I've below are a couple of useful links in which subject staff have outlined what should be found in a portfolio:
- University of Hertfordshire
- YouTube

If you have any questions about the portfolio, please feel free contact Martin Bowman (Joint Programme Leader of Digital Animation at Herts) on [email protected].

Hope that helps! And best of luck with your application!

Hi @SamanthaArt1999

I would certainly say that your degree is a suitable entry qualification for this course. If you are unsure about how you about the progression between your BA and this MA course, I would recommend emailing Dr Ian Willcock (the Programme Leader of Postgraduate Media) on [email protected]. He will be able to double check that you are suitable for this course.

Additionally, as part of the application process, you may be able to provide a transcript of your BA course. The University of Hertfordshire will use this to assess your compatibility with this course.

During your project/major study (a 60 credit module which typically takes place during Semester C) you will be given the option to focus on a specialist area. This could be 2D Animation, 3D Animation, VFX or Stop Motion for example.

Unfortunately I am unsure of the specifics of each model and whether Pre-Production is included. I would recommend emailing Dr Ian Willcock about that.

Finally, I would recommend visiting one of our Postgraduate Open Evenings to find out more about PG study at Herts and your course of interest.

Feel free to let me know if you have any more questions!
Hi, I am also applying to University of Hertfordshire

a) Where are you from? High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire
b) What’s your is the subject area of interest? Biomedical Sciences
c) A-Levels/BTECs: A level Biology,Chemistry,Law
d) What’s your current application status:Conditional Offer

I also have a question. Within my offer it says I need to obtain 104 points from a minimum of two a levels including biology and chemistry. Does the UCAS points I need for this course include the points from Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) ?
I’ve just got an email from Hertfordshire offering em an interview but when I click the link, the interviews are apparently booked? A bit confused! Any help?
Same thing happened With me. I just emailed them back saying the bookings were full and I was given alternate dates.

Hello @manahel1!

I had a similar query about the EPQ when I applied. If I remember correctly - it turned out that the EPQ was included in the point tally. I would recommend emailing our admissions team on [email protected] just in case things have changed since my application a few years ago.

Hope that helps

Hey @RBudzinska

Sound's like @fatoujallo's suggestion may work. If you want help finding a specific email address to contact, then let me know what course you are applying for and I'll see what I can do
