Don't do an HNC. Do a degree apprenticeship in Engineering. You're earning potential over time will increase, you'll have a degree fully paid for you + you'll have loads of experience. It would make you a good candidate to eventually attain yo ur Chartered status. Depending on your company, they may even pay for your Masters and further training.

On the other hand, University is great if you are slightly more academically inclined. If you don't have a degree, then you are eligible for student finance to fund your degree. If you do have one, you won't be eligible. Degree's are certainly good in Engineering, however, this depends on what University you go to and what kind of work experience you can get alongside your course. There are plenty of older people who certainly have gone on to University and I would also highly recommend you going because it is a great experience.

Also what type of Engineering are you doing?

My problem is that I have no idea + I don’t know no one to speak with, but I’m more practical

Well, I’m doing general engineering like autocad, electrical installation, maths for technician etc

Thats brilliant mate. With your skills, you would definitely be suited for a degree apprenticeship in Electrical Engineering. There are different companies that do this particularly Siemens and BAE as these degree apprenticeships are both academically and practically mixed. If you wanted to though mate, a HNC isn't a bad shout. I was just doing some further reserach, BAE do one in Manufacturing Engineering (with electrical engineering as your specialism) and it lasts for four years. The problem with doing a HNC is that it takes 4 years to complete which is equivalent to a level 4 (or first year of a degree). In a degree apprenticeship, you'll be on a higher salary plus it will take the same amount of time.

Here are some questions so that I can do some further research for you:
- Which part of the UK do you live?
- Are you willing to move or travel?
- What specialism would you like to go into?
- HNC or Degree apprenticeship?
- What is the salary that you are looking for? Some degree apprenticeships pay more than others

man btechs r effort
i was actually very good at english at gcse(got a 5) but only average at maths(got a 3)
im retaking maths in order to get a 4

Im doing unit coursework on titrations and colorimetry to determine the concentrations of solutions for part a. im struggling the most with part b though which is undertake calorimetry to study cooling curves.part c is undertaking chromatographic techniques to identify components in mixtures.and part d is an evaluation.My coursework is due for next monday and is the 2nd submission.Im wondering if the units were the same for last year
