I need help with this essay

Write an essay of a maximum 1500 words (excluding diagrams, tables and references, but including abstract) with the following title: Antibiotics, antimicrobial resistance and the control of disease

Use this title and write an essay that addresses it (i.e. includes a discussion of all three parts).

The essay should contain:
An abstract At this stage it is common for students to write a preview rather than an abstract. Make sure that you do write a summary, not just an introduction.

Introduction to: antibiotics and their history, their use in the control of disease, their overuse.

Developed sections of main text, using evidence and figures to illustrate your ideas, information and analysis, that address at least three of:
The biochemical process of how antibiotics work.

The biochemical process of antibiotic resistance.

The proliferation of resistance and what the mechanism underlying this is.

The evidenced effects of altered disease control, for:
Human disease
and/or livestock diseases and the implications of widespread AB use in livestock on human health.

Mitigation of the effect of antimicrobial resistance.

A conclusion: this should not simply repeat what you have said, but tie the points you have made together.

As implied by others, no-one is going to write the whole essay for you. I shall try and push you off the cliff [dw, I am not going to take you to Dover - only a metaphor :colondollar:].

Intro: who discovered penicillin? When? The guy who did lectured to my grandad when the latter was a medical student [well b4 our time - just a comment - don't mention Sheldon in your essay lol] [Overuse: Look up "Longitude Prize"]

Mechanisms of action:

How does penicillin work? Which other large class of drugs works in the same way? [chkout - beta-lactam]

Protein synthesis inhibition - where might we humans block this process? Think of the parts of the bacterial ribosome [70S ring a bell?] - think of the stages of protein synthesis step by step [google tetracycline, streptomycin, chloramphenicol]

Resistance: could bacteria destroy the drug? Could they mask themselves or block entry of drug into the cell? What has SARS-CoV-2 done to evade our Rx methods? [oc a virus, but bacteria mutate, too]

Proliferat-n: check conjugation; super-infection; survival of fittest
