Newcastle or Exeter for econimics

I will be applying for 2021 session and i am confused between Newcastle and Exeter for economics . also what are some other good universities for economics ??

There are many different factors to consider when making the decision of which university to attend.

I would recommend that you start by comparing the course content. Remember that courses differ at different universities - No two courses are the same. Look beyond the course title at the content of the course. Topics will be different across universities, depending on academic expertise, course accreditation, international partnerships and location.

Other things to consider include:

What student accommodation is available?
What career prospectus does the university have?
Are there any work experience opportunities?
What support does the university offer? (Counselling, writing mentors, employability service etc.)
Are there any part time jobs on campus?
What extracurricular activities are available?
What is the cost of living in each of the cities?
What facilities does the university offer? (Library, gym, laundrette, catering etc.)

We offer Economics at Liverpool Hope Uni as a combined honors degree. This means that you would choose another subject to study alongside Economics. We've outlined the compulsory and optional modules for our Economics course here on pages 3-6.

Newcastle University Business School is also triple-accredited meaning your Economics degree will be recognised not only in the UK but also in Europe and Internationally! Our Business School is located right in the heart of the city centre in a state of the art development in our business district.

Most importantly the career prospects that Economics students have are extremely high! 96% of graduates are in work or further study, such as a masters or PhD, just six months after they graduate. Newcastle Economics students are highly sought by the biggest and best organisations such as: KPMG, Deloitte, PwC, EY, and Goldman Sachs to name a few.

As a student from the Newcastle Uni Business School myself, one of the most valuable things I found from my studies there was the support from the teaching staff. They really go above and beyond to point you in the direction of a whole host of different opportunities and work experience platforms. Lots of students undertake an industrial placement year (including myself!). This is a paid years work experience anywhere in the world for any company you wish to apply to. It gives you an amazing chance to put your degree into practice and it looks amazing on your CV!

Hopefully I've been able to give you a bit of insight into the course and academic side of the Economics degree but it is also so important to love the place you'll be living in during the course of your time studying. Newcastle as a city is loved by students for so many reasons! There is something for everyone no matter what you enjoy doing. You are right in the heart of the city surrounded by other like-minded students and friendly local Geordies! It hosts some of the best nightlife in the whole country, has beautiful beaches only 15 minutes away, and we are lucky enough to have the biggest shopping centre in the UK! It may be also worthwhile having a browse of the 200+ societies we have at the uni to see what you can get involved in outside of your lectures!

Hi Conchy66,

Luckily, all halls in Newcastle are only around a 10-15 minute walk from the city centre/business school and main campus.

Some halls in the closest vicinity to Newcastle Uni Business School include Liberty Plaza, The View, Verde and a few others in that area of the city centre. Some of these are university-owned accommodation and some are private-owned. Either way, there are 16 different student accommodation sites for Newcastle University students, so there is definitely something for everyone.
