I wont lie, its astonishing someone online admitted they were wrong!
Ribbing aside the american healthcare system is one you have to be really careful about when it comes to drug prices since a lot are artificially inflated due to patents. I mean, just look at how much a shot of insulin will run you in America.It's boderline dystopian.

Hopefully the 71% fall in male HIV diagnosis figures in the UK since 2012 is reflective of fewer men becoming infected and in turn indicative of very low transmission levels.

You're right on that, but I figured sincethe BBC wanted to report it as a 71% drop it'd be disingenuous for me to report it any different to how they did.
Very happy for the news on it though! The HIV/AIDS crisis is still super traumatic for a lot of gay and bi men still alive today, and having something like PrEP widely available makes me hope we can avoid another crisis like it.

gay men represent a small amount of the population yet over 50% of those diagnosed are gay.

The ban is there to protect people.

and i'm not being homophobic either. I'd welcome a ban on africans giving blood or any other place where the hiv rate is high.

I would have thought so, but there has got to be some reason for not letting them donate? ...maybe the tests aren't that accurate or something

Yeah I was thinking... Cant they know if an individual has HIV? The article says 93% of those infected are diagnosed.

I'm no expert but there's a window for infection.

It takes a few months for it to show up on tests, I believe up to 3, so someone who has recently been infected could potentially give blood and test negative.

but the same thing applies to straight people so i don't see the point
