We can change our gender legally, so should we be able to legally change our age?



I think we should. I regularly get my age guessed at around 10 years younger than my true age ...and not only does this make dating bothersome [women your own age don't seem than keen, but girls much younger are the ones who show interest], ...I seem to always get people freaking out in non dating situations as well when they learn my age, and it starts to get annoying after a while.

No we shouldn't.
Pedophiles would then be able to change their ages to match the age of their victims.
Teenagers could change their ages to get into all sorts of trouble, and could vote.
The elderly could change their age to be younger and could hog job spaces for example that new graduates would have been able to move up into.
Ages enable the public to be able to identify for each person what is and what is not appropriate. Changes ages will cause chaos!!

Perhaps don't allow under 21 to identify as older, and not allow anyone over 21 to identify as under 21.
That would fix the pedophile problem and teenage voting problem.

I don't see the elderly thing as a problem though, as no one is going to mistake a 70 year old for a 21 year old fresh out of uni

Well then this begs the question what is the point of changing your age?
What is the point of a 22 year old identifying as 30? A 30 year old as 21? They're all adults. I don't see any advantageous reason for changing your age then. This will all just lead to confusion anyway.
Changing your age because it leads to discrimination to boost dating prospects lets say means you are essentially lying to your potential dating partner. If you think your age will put them off you leave the question until the end of the date or even later. There's no need to jump through legal hoops just to boost dating prospects wtf!

tbh, it's both dating and social scenario's that are effected.

eg: I went on a short course about a year ago, where the majority of them room was 18-24 [although there was a few people clearly over 50] ...and when someone asked me my age I tried to dodge the question at first, but they kept on asking me ..so I was forced to reveal it. The guy first started looking at me weirdly, then he accused me of lying. Then he literally made a massive song and dance about it and told everybody in the room. More people started looking at me weirdly. I got quizzed by a couple more people. Then THE NEXT DAY, the original guy was still accusing me of lying. He demanded to see my ID. and I went and actually showed it to him just to shut him up.

This kind of sh*t is annoying.

These sorts of instances arn't exactly rare either. It typically causes a commotion when people find out my age, because I don't look my age. It's getting annoying now.

If you can legally change your gender, I should be able to legally change my age.

Age is a social construct. People should have the right to choose whatever age they feel on the inside. If a person is 70 and they feel 20, they become 20. So it's not lying. It's a lot like transsexuality. Its discrimination in the law to ask a transgender their true gender identity, the one that they were born with. By law, they can lie about their gender to their prospective partners without any repercussions. Why shouldn't people be able to do the same thing with age?

Of course, I am being very sarcastic here. This is the route we are traveling and believe it or not if we carry on this way paedopilia will become legal and if a paedophile chooses to have sex with a child of yours and you dare challenge him/her you will have your life destroyed for discrimination.

Feminists have since the 60s been campaigning to legalise paedophilia. They have managed to successfully change many definitions in society in pursuit of this endeavour. Eventually they will be able to legalise it.

You have no idea what is goingon behind the scenes in the west. Lots and lots of highly prominent organisations and people are working relentlessly hard to legalise things you cannot possibly imagine becoming legal.

Good god man, age is not a social construct, whereas gender is. While biological sex is just that, biological, the idea of gender is one constructed by society (an idea backed up by many scholars). Gender is often seen as fluid, and age is not. Gender is an internal feeling, age is not.
And can I please point out - people don't actually change their gender. I'm just going to repeat that TRANS PEOPLE DO NOT CHANGE GENDER, THEY TRANSITION PHYSICALLY. They were always 'the other gender', so gender wise you cannot change it. I am not trans myself, but I have a lot of trans friends, and I would welcome anyone within the trans community to correct me if I am wrong with what I have said, but to the best of my knowledge that is how it is.

Just because you want to be able to date younger women more easily, which let me just say right now makes me as a younger woman feel extremely uncomfortable and makes you look like a real creep, it does not mean that you can disregard the difficulties of body dysmorphia that trans people feel. If women feel uncomfortable it is their right to feel uncomfortable.
Just because you look younger it does not give you the right to change your age. Especially when your reasoning is that disgusting. You will just have to put up with it, annoying as it may be.

Nope don’t care or wouldn’t be surprised if people advocate for paedophiles, age can never be changed unless we manage to prove that time is an illusion itself and our lives a cosmic simulation

I said younger women are typically the ones showing interest, whilst women my own age seem a lot less interested.

If I try approaching girls 25+, if they seem interested they typically start giving me sh*t about my age. A girl I kissed a while back in a club was 1 year older than me [so same age basically] and at first she was accusing me of being 22, then when i told her my age she said she looks a lot older than me. Then after a while she started to act distant ...and said something like "i just feel like this adult, and you're so shy and innocent" ..... somehow i still managed a makeout with her after this, ....but then she started acted funny again and I got annoyed and walked off.

and I ain't no creep. It's more the younger ones going for me, and the ones my age not seeming very interested ...so I am forced to go younger.
