Forts? Is this a complete non-issue that again finds itself on the front pages of the news?

cuz we live in a messed up generation who have lost sense.
It’s not a story.
If I want corn rows or dreadlocks I’ll take myself off to the hairdresser and do it. End of
Er... The Vikings had dreadlocks and weren't exactly black.

No culture has ownership of a hairstyle.

Why not post about the real issues? Instead of getting offended by an insignificant haircut. In this day and age someone changing their hairstyle is the most normal thing

But the wigs pictured aren't dreadlocks, they're cornrows.

Regardless, it's not really an issue, but you'd think they'd know better with the Twitter
(especially stan Twitter) culture around cultural appropriation. It's more funny than offensive,
they clearly don't know how to apply wigs as you can still see the lace, their hairlines & their
actual hair underneath - very shoddily done tbh.

the only issue with it, is that it looks awful. but cultural appropriation? nah.

Every single time a “white” person has a “black” hairstyle = cultural appropriation. Just ridiculous. No hairstyle should be restricted to just one race. A nugatory story.

Agreed
Ridiculous, culture is to be shared and nobody 'owns' any style. By that logic fashion models with non Western heritage shouldn't be able to wear jeans.

Because it is the BBC, where genderism and all the rest is like a religion. Stuff put out by young people with a soft education and to whom these are the main issues in our world, together with racism, sexism, feminism, the climate emergency and every other bullet point of the Guardianista agenda but no more. You're likely to find this stuff in there too but not in the Daily Mail. White supremacy troubles them big time too and they're all very fond of cats for some reason. Black ones, presumably.

you can't get dreads from the hairdresser. and you don't have many hairdressers who could do genuine cornrows on western style hair, and the hairdressers who specialise in coloured hair probably wouldn't give you cornrows unless you had the compatible hair. So.

No - cultural appropriation is real and an issue. It deserves to be called out like this.

Your pathetic lack of intellect is acknowledged, do you really have to make it public?

oh i have a high level of intellect, you just meant vocabulary - vocabulary is a choice, intellect is a way of thinking. And I think you were referring to intelligence anyway - intellect is a way of looking at abstract matters objectively and logically. this is a conversation about view-points about real life situations and in a way situational ethics so intellect isn't needed in the same way as it's not an abstract idea in the way that, I don't know, trying to analyse Waiting for Godot by Samuel Beckett is abstract. so basically: ok boomer.
