To grow may clones at once - saves time etc

To ensure that nutrients don't become a limiting factor - so the cells don't die//can grow (synthesis proteins) photosynthesise etc.

Hormones for growth, division, ripening etc.

Sterile to prevent plants from getting infected/dying due to disease

(that's what i think)

the sterile conditions are probably to avoid contamination (which might lead to the disease) :smile:
