Hello

I currently study full time at open uni with 120 credits.

This is my first year.

I have one year previously study a few years ago which didn’t result in a qualification I just left uni.

What would happen if I failed one of my 60 unit modules this year from a student finance perspective.

I.e what would the previous study calc look like

If I did fail one module I’d obviously have to resit it the following year in 20/21 which would mean I would be back down to 60 units a year and 50% intensity as I would have to compete both level one modules before moving on to level two modules (year 3&4 p/t year 2 of 3 full time)

Would I not have any funding for this a resit of the module

Hi there,

If you are studying a course via the Open University then you have a maximum 16 years to apply for funding, this is subject to any qualifications gained. This means you can be funded for your resit.

Thanks, Erin

Thanks Erin that’s really helpful to know, hoping I don’t fail the module but it’s good to know what will happen if I do , is this the same with maintenance loan In the sense of being available for up to 16 years like the tuition fee loan ? Thanks

If you are eligible for the Maintenance Loan then yes this will work the same.

Thanks, Erin
