When do I apply for student finance for second year...

And how do I do it? Is it the same as first year application? I'm quite confused as to what I need to do

I think it's the same process as the first application. Hopefully @Sfe will be able to provide some help.

Just to clarify, that user isn't an official rep, from SFE or otherwise (also they haven't been active for about 7 years). Official SFE reps only respond via the forum linked below.

As above it's usually around February that it opens, although you can apply later and still get your funding (it might be delayed at the start of the next academic year though depending how late you do it). It's fairly similar although a lot of the information is already on there and you are just confirming it's not changed.

If you do need to contact SFE for advice, you can use the "Ask Student Finance England" forum here: https://www.thestudentroom.co.uk/forumdisplay.php?f=910 which is manned by official SFE reps, or you can use one of their other contact methods (e.g. by phone, twitter, or facebook).
