How do people feel about Man City "cheating"?
I'm a bit apathetic about it. What have they really done wrong? Basically that Man City have spent more money than everyone else/more than their means.
Isn't the history of football littered with wealthy benefactors making great footballing sides? You look at Abramovich with Chelsea but even if you go further back there will be rich individuals bankrolling clubs and players or building football stadiums. Just that it's been done on a grander scale in recent years (by a State, rather than an individual).
Why is it we think it is fundamentally fair that Man Utd are allowed to spend so much more money than everyone else? Sure they generate more money from their rich history but what is the fairness in a competitive sense in that?
FFP was introduced (apparently) to stop clubs spending too much and going bust. To not spend the money they don't have or won't be able to access. If Man City's owners are putting cash in and not going to let the club go bust, is that really such a problem or crime?
I guess the counter argument is that new rules were agreed and everyone in the competition said they would abide by it but it seems a nice byproduct that the historic big clubs are able to guard against anyone else crashing their party.
