Cheeky bid for Kevin De Bruyne then lads?

Wouldn’t be surprised to see it reduced to a suspended sentence. CAS won’t stop up to a nation when the expensive lawyers get involved.

The next bit will be a sob story about people losing their jobs and the club being unable to continue funding in the local area / women’s team.

Fully expect UEFA to settle out of court. We all know what they want, more money.

They probably just forgot to pay their monthly bribes in to uefa

If they settle with no ban, it makes both UEFA and FFP look like a complete joke.

At the end of the day, we all know how dodgy City are, and surely they wouldn’t give them such a ban unless they were confident of the evidence against them.

Ban or no ban, if Pep leaves, City are absolutely screwed anyway.

City don't need to win the FA Cup as they wouldn't qualify for Europe, so they can sit back in the next round and let someone else* take advantage.

*Sheffield Wednesday.
Anyone can summerize what the breaches are

City were found guilty by Uefa’s club financial control body (CFCB) of having falsely inflated their sponsorship revenues, when they made submissions for the FFP compliance process.
No doubt Man City will appeal. It will be interesting to see what happens after that.

IF (and it's a big if) the ban was upheld, the ramifications could be huge!

- would Guardiola stay?
- will some stars like Aguero want to stay during the ban?
- can Man City keep attracting star players during this ban?
- do they need such a big squad if no Europe?
- will the Premier League take some action over the breaches since they have the same/similar rules?

I think that you may both end up being correct about what happens.
Think of how much money City get each year from reaching the quarter/semi finals - 100m? More maybe.

Being banned for two seasons is a much bigger impact than the accompanying 30m fine.
They need to ban PSG first

Well they would have to find the gap to replace the "fake sponsorship", they lose the CL money like you say (although Man City have only reached the semi-finals once FYI), and no doubt they struggle to raise more genuine commercial revenue since what company wants to be associated with a club branded a "cheat".

It also becomes a huge problem going forward since how do they cover their wage bill with further restricted revenues?

Paris SG as next to be consequent, please! otherwise the ban is an arbitrary act of justice. It is an open secret that this football club breached the Financial Fairplay in the same extent as City did.

Man City and PSG were punished in the past for breaches. I think this time it's a worse punishment, not because they breached the FFP rules but because they lied/were deceitful about the source of funds.
How do people feel about Man City "cheating"?

I'm a bit apathetic about it. What have they really done wrong? Basically that Man City have spent more money than everyone else/more than their means.

Isn't the history of football littered with wealthy benefactors making great footballing sides? You look at Abramovich with Chelsea but even if you go further back there will be rich individuals bankrolling clubs and players or building football stadiums. Just that it's been done on a grander scale in recent years (by a State, rather than an individual).

Why is it we think it is fundamentally fair that Man Utd are allowed to spend so much more money than everyone else? Sure they generate more money from their rich history but what is the fairness in a competitive sense in that?

FFP was introduced (apparently) to stop clubs spending too much and going bust. To not spend the money they don't have or won't be able to access. If Man City's owners are putting cash in and not going to let the club go bust, is that really such a problem or crime?

I guess the counter argument is that new rules were agreed and everyone in the competition said they would abide by it but it seems a nice byproduct that the historic big clubs are able to guard against anyone else crashing their party.
