maths trig help!!!

prove
cosecx-sinx = 1/secxtanx

is started with the lhs

I solved and I got to

cos^2x/sinx

I then separated this and got cosx/sinx x cosx = cotxcosx

what do I do next????

I wouldn't start with the RHS if I were you. The LHS consists of two pieces - if you treat them as fractions and get them over the same denominator, you can combine them into one piecem which will be closer to where you are headed to.

FML sorry for the typo :biggrin: I meant I started with the LHS.

Oh yes, I can see what you did now!

You are so nearly there. You have got to cotx cosx. You need to get to 1/secxtanx, by which I assume you mean 1/(secx tanx). Let's write this as (1/sec x)(1/tan x). Now - what is 1/sec x? What is 1/tan x?
