How many hours a day should I revise for A-Levels

Im in Yr12 and have mocks coming up. I know the amount that you revise is always going to depend on each individual person, but I was just wondering how much it is recommended to revise per day, or how much do you revise/day?

Anywhere between 2 to 4 hours of revision in a day a success to me.

But you're right, you should go at your own pace. Some days I can't even make myself revise for 10 minutes, and then there are others where I can sit down to study for a whole afternoon without batting an eye. If you leave yourself enough time before mocks, you can afford to have days where you don't want to do anything. I find that working like that is more effective, and less stressful, as opposed to having a strict schedule and forcing yourself to revise for X amount of hours every day.

Personally, I'm Year 13 and I do 4-8 per day, depending. E.g. I'm about to finish my 8 for today, but knowing that I'm going to a uni open day tomorrow meaning that I'm unlikely to do more than an hour or two. I won't often do 8, either. On the other hand, I have Church Sunday mornings and prefer to have a relaxed day, so most Sundays I won't do more than 4. As a year 12, you certainly don't need to be doing 6/7/8 hours! Perhaps soon before your exams 6, but your priority is long-term revision motivation and ensuring that you understand all your topics. If you did 4 hours each non-school day, you should more than cover the spec in time, and you'd have time to relax as well - basically, do what you can but don't force yourself to do more than you can manage. Also, you shouldn't give up days out or anything at this point - by spring next year you probably won't be socialising much so take the opportunity now!

Well said, I feel like there's a pressure atm to study all day every day... I definitely succume to it a bit too much! Deciding how motivated you feel each day and how your going to make the most of the time is far better for anyone who naturally feels motivated to study!

Hi! I'm in year 12 too and I was actually wondering the same thing. Anyways I spoke with my form tutor and apparently the aim is to do about 4-5 hours per subject a week. It sounds like a lot but if you get as many study periods as I do you can pretty much do it all with weekends and a couple of study periods free. Hope this helps x

I believe so yes! I think the idea is that your homework should be relevant in what you need to know

In our school it's recommended that you do 5hrs/subject a day, so 15 hrs a week, but I was also confused whether that meant I should be doing 15hrs of revision separate to homework or whether it's all counted as one
