Feeling down

I have been feeling a bit upset worrying about my future career and just growing up. I just am extremely worried about it and its just things like I need to be motivated, I need grades and I need a driving licence to get a good job in the future. Ive just not got grades like I failed my gcses at school and havent got a driving licence yet but Im aiming for it and Im aiming for my grades as well but if I dont get them Im pretty much screwed. I have so much pressure on me to get these things. I can probably get a job without the driving licence and grades but it will be a very low end job like working in mcdonalds or working in sainsburys on the till or something which would make me depressed.

With me Im only motivated with something when I like it, like I am motivted with getting my licence coz I love cars but sadly I used to learn in a manual car which I badly struggled with and with 2 instructors so I changed to automatic. Im doing better with it but still need improvement to pass my test. I just am not 100% sure if I will end up getting my full licence which scares me because its going to demotivated me. Im also not sure If Ill get my grades which is worrying as well. I just really need to get both of these or my life will be an absolute disaster which really makes me scared.

All of this makes me depressed or anxious somtimes and it makes me dread growing up so much. Sometimes I just want to lie in bed and cry about things.

The reason I feel like this is because Ive had things that havent gone well in the past. Ive always wanted to drive a manual car but struggled badly with it with 2 instructors nd that did ruin my confidence with things. At school I wanted to get my gcses to get onto this apprentiship and I didnt get it so that hurt when I didnt acheive the right grades to get on. I get really worried and anxious that I might not get them again.

I just thought I wanted come on tsr to speak about it because I just wanted to get things off my chest. I have posted on here before about similar but some people have replied being a bit mean so can no be mean or anything. Can anyone just reply with their thoughts without being mean and ill appreciate it.

Take things one step at a time. Focus on the here and now.

What are you currently studying? Have you spoken to your teachers so they can give you pointers on where to improve?

Think of it as a means to an end. Work hard and it'll go quicker. Have you spoken to your teachers about how you're feeling? Have you spoken to pastoral care at your college? They should be able to support you.

Ive tried and got a mentor to talk to often but the mentor I had has not been in for a long time. I spoke to this other mentor they have and she wasnt that useful. I explained the not being able to drive worry thing I have but she just said I will just have to use public transport then will I. No one understands that its going to **** up my self esteem if I dont end up getting my licence.

Well that's exactly why you shouldn't base your self esteem on one thing. Focus on your studies for now, and worry about getting a full licence later if an automatic one doesn't help enough.

What sort of things are you doing to help improve your mood?
Man, as long as you are healthy as well as your family, there is no problem that is great enough to make you feel down. Just take a look at it with another perspective.
In 2 months I got my shoulder dislocated, I learnt that my only grandma I had ever known had a stomach cancer and she died 2 months later while I was working on a farm in Vancouver so I couldn’t meet her, 2 days after her death, I learnt that my mum I has a rectum cancer. Than I began to have health issues( pain in my testicle, leg and back) and doctors can t find what it is after 2 MRIs, 3 ultrasounds, 1 X ray, 3 blood examinations, 3 urines examinations. Then 2 months ago tinnitus came and it s driving me mad. I am stuck in my bed because of the pain, cannot even support my mum while she is under treatment and cannot get some time to swallow and understand that my grandma is gone forever. You can imagine, I got into depression with some bad ideas and I am under medications.
Man be strong and think of it as a problem that is not worth putting you down.

What about things like art? Exercise? Writing? Meditation? Etc. Things that can help you process your emotions, things that are more active than passively watching YouTube videos.

Life is hard sometimes I guess, hard to understand it when you are 18yo. We both gotta to stay strong. But really, try to take a step back on what is happening to you. It will help you to get through this.

Okay. But you need to do more to help improve your mood. Being social is good, yes, but other things are important as well.

Seek help from your GP as well if you are struggling too much.
