Can’t choose ;-;

Hello
I can’t choose between Royal Holloway or Loughborough :/

I’m gonna study psychology and criminology at both.

Loughborough’s offer is AAB
Royal Holloway’s offer is AAB-ABB

When I look at the modules I’m more attracted to Loughborough, but Royal Holloway is just so beautiful and I like that it’s only a 40min train ride from London..since I’m afraid I’m gonna get a bit claustrophobic at Loughborough..

Questions:
-Is Loughborough generally a better uni than Royal Holloway?
-What is the social aspect like at both unis?
-Which one would you choose and why?

Sorry for the long post and thanks for reading
Don’t know if I chose the right forum for this..

I think Loughborough is considered a slightly better uni than RHUL but not much in it so choose the one that you prefer. Loughborough is good if you are very sporty and I believe it is social but also a lot of the socialising revolves around sports societies. The town of Loughborough is nothing to write home about, but there is probably more to do than in Egham and it is under half an hour by train to Nottingham which is quicker than getting from RHUL to London.

It's good to compare the two in terms of various criteria but in the end it is nearly always best to choose the uni that you simply like the best, for whatever reason.

Flip a coin then

If it lands on Loughborough and you're disappointed, you will know that in your heart you wanted RHUL and vice versa

Do You Think it would be dumb to choose Loughborough when I don’t really do any sports?..

No I’m sure not everyone is sporty but it’s just an extra selling point if you are

Hi @UGP1023,

Ultimately you are going to university for the course, however, I know this is really easy to say. Plus you have also got to choose somewhere you can see yourself living for at least the next three years.

Loughborough has great transport links, with direct trains to Leicester and Nottingham and is only a 90min train journey to St Pancras. If you are after a beautiful campus then I would say Loughborough fulfils that too, but I have also not seen Royal Holloway before. The campus at Loughborough though is pretty self-sufficient and in your first year you wouldn't really need to leave, unless you left to explore the town and surrounding area.

I think the best advice I can offer is to make a list of the priorities you have for uni and then see where Royal Holloway and us match up.

Loughborough is known for sport and engineering, but that doesn't mean you have to do either or both to come here! We offer so much through our LU Arts programme and Students Union that you can find your group pretty easy if you are happy to look for it.

Hope this helps and any more questions drop us a PM.
Best Wishes,
Emily
