Accommodation help

Hi. I've firmed Bath as my first choice for management with marketing. I'd like to apply for en suite accommodation.

What is the closest en suite accommodation to the management school as I'm guessing I'll be spending most of my time there.

Your classes are going to be spread across campus, so I wouldn't chose based on how close it may or may not be. Also, Bath's campus is not so big so that never felt like an issue for me when I was in first year. Go for Polden or Woodland court if you want the most spacious en suite rooms! Quads is also nice but it is way to small. Good luck!

Hi again. Just a quick question about the Quads and Polden. Do I have to have the eat and drink credit? Or can I have the accommodation without it?

If it's still the same than when I was in 1st year (3 years ago), Polden is fully catered (£1500) while Quads is semi-catered (750). However there's no option to get the accommodation without that! But trust me, it's a good thing cuz even if you don't spend all of it during the 1st year you can still use it after! I was in Polden and kept 1/4 of my credit for 2nd year. Moreover, trust me you'll end up eating on campus quite a lot.

If you don’t want catering but you still want the comfort and space of a nice room, go for Woodland court! It’s really great. Good luck!

Great to hear you have firmed Bath for Management with Marketing!

I will add a little to what the previous posters have said about accommodation...

Your lectures will likely be all over campus so don't worry about the location of your accommodation - Bath is a compact campus and you can probably walk the length of it in 10 mins!

If you haven't already looked, this is a good overview of the different accommodation options (note this is for 2019/2020 so may change for your year of entry).

These are a few things I would think about when deciding:

- Campus or city? I would definitely recommend staying on campus for the full university experience, it is so easy to get to your lectures and you feel at the heart of everything!

- Eat & drink credit or self-catering? Even though it wasn't my first choice, I ended up in Quads which is partly catered. It is a more expensive option, but having credit ended up being really good. As a flat, we used it as an excuse to have a meal altogether on campus so it turned out to be a good way to socialise. Plus, the credit rolls over each year if you don't use it - really handy in second year and final year when you're not living on campus anymore and forget lunch! If you want self-catered accommodation, Marlborough & Solsbury Court is the most modern and Woodland Court is typically more spacious. Polden Court is fully catered - personally I wouldn't have needed that much credit as I wanted to cook more, but it depends what you prefer. A final note on Quads - the rooms are small, but well-designed to fit what you need. Also, I spent most of my time in the kitchen/shared social space (both of which made up for the lack of room in our bedrooms)!

- How many people will be living in that accommodation? Do you want to meet more people or have a more intimate flat? I loved Quads because we had 10 to a kitchen, 20 to a social space and roughly 40 on a floor so it made it easy to meet lots of new people quickly.

- Ensuite/shared bathroom? I know you mentioned you would like an en-suite, however I just wanted to say that I never heard of people have issues sharing a bathroom because everybody had different lecture schedules if that is something you are worried about!
