I heard it was really popular in the UK, and that most people would be able to name a few indian dishes if asked. Is this true?

no lie there was once a poll asking what the most popular british food was and ironically indian food made it to the list. its kinda like the beatles - america tried to own them. likewise brits try to claim indian food as its own.
