Dropping Out of Uni Before I Start

I've just left college (albeit abruptly because of Covid), and I have applied for University. I applied because I've always been an academic, but recently I've fallen uninterested and put off by education in general, and still don't know what to do with my life.

I applied for a gap year to give me some more time to think, but, what if I decide to quit University before starting? How would I do that? I'm a bit worried, especially considering there doesn't seem to be a lot of info regarding it.

You mean youve applied for deferred entry of a course you arent sure about?
You just let them know you drop out and thats it.

Yes, but you might not even be offered it if the uni is competitive.
There is littler advantage in a uni deferring a place for you.
They may just ask you to reapply.

Just do research.

Also consider what career the degree might help you get.

Careers- See if you can get any of these books at the careers library or they will have similar for you to read. Try and get ones aimed at your age group. If you cant find then just get second hand from Amazon.

Yep that is fine. but put some serious effort into finding out what career and course might suit you as a mistake is very costly. Sometimes a gap is a wise choice. Threads every day about people who have made the wrong

But is it possible to easily cancel Uni if I do decide to not go next year? As long as I don't make any payments or sign any contracts, can I withdraw/cancel despite having confirmed a firm choice?

Yes and dont enrol. Enrolment is the specific official registration that happens at the beginning of uni.
You have loads of time between now and then to try and work out if its for you.

You are a worrier. Focus on activities which increase your knowledge and help you understand whether you are ready, which uni and what course as provided to you in the links. Knowledge means better decisions and that should calm your anxiety. Ps I presume you arent an international student.

Yeah I'm not an international student, glad I'm not going this September especially with all uncertainty because of Coronavirus
