Oxford law

Can I expect an offer from Oxford Law even if my gardes in Maths have been low in the last few years? Also,I've taken Science subjects in my class 12. will than hinder my application?

I don’t know that much about the Oxford application process for Law specifically, but I will say - nobody can expect an Oxford offer! Oxford is extremely competitive to get into, and every year thousands of excellent applicants, predicted top grades, aren’t given offers. Law is also extremely competitive, and as a result, while it’s absolutely a good idea to apply to Oxford if you like the university and have good grades, don’t get too set on it - make sure you have other options. As for the actual point of the question, @Oxford Mum might be able to help!
Top post from you @Darth Caedus. The average Oxford law applicant has 5.2 8s/9s at gcse. The average number for offer holders is 8 or 9. If you risk not getting these grades, try Cambridge instead. They are not so fussy about gcse grades but their offer is higher a*aa

Hey,thanks for replying!
I know both Cambridge and Oxford are very difficult to get into but is it easier to get into Cambridge than Oxford (for law) because Cambridge is more famous for it's science subjects? I hink I had read this somewhere....not too sure about it.t

yeah I can totally understand your point....just wanted to know if Maths is REALLY important for Oxford law!

also, what exactly does a '9' correspond to? ( like, in percentage)
I dont think they do the UMS anymore (correct me if I'm wrong) so they rely on predicted grades and more so on gcses in that aspect. What are you predicted at? What were your GCSEs? No science subjects wont hinder your application but it is good to get some essay practice, especially for the LNAT

My overall average (for 10 subjects) in class 10 (your GCSEs ) was 93-94% ( Eng language- 88/100, Eng Literature-89/100, History- 99/100, Geography- 97/100, Physics- 93/100 chem- 94/100, Bio- 94/100, computer science- 97/100, regional language- 96/100 and maths- 88/100 )

That is an absolute myth! Both are excellent for all the subjects they offer, it’s just that the course contents are often slightly different.
All your exam scores look fine, op so you can apply for either Oxford or Cambridge. Just watch out for those international fees.
No one subject is important for law, but it’s best to do at least one essay subject to a level. So having a slightly lower mark for your maths doesn’t matter as long as you get good marks in at least 8 or 9 subjects. Acing the lnat is very important, so please get some past papers and practice that. Also in the summer holidays you should be researching an aspect of law that interests you. When you have put down your book, you need to reflect on what you have read. It’s this soecialisation which will make your ps stand out and may even give the interviewers an ice breaker question if you are lucky.

I do have Psychology in my A levels though. I think it is a good essay subject. And other than that I have english, maths, physics and chemistry.
I will surely take your advice into consideration.... can you please recommend any site/person (here in the Student Room) who is willing to correct my LNAT essays?
Nobody will correct your lnat essays, but there are personal statement checkers
