Where do you think would be the best place for me to live while I study in York?

I am hoping to begin studying at York St John's in September (just waiting for my offer). I finished my A Levels last year but essentially took a year out deciding what I want to do so I'll probably be a year older than most first years. I'm not exactly a party animal and much prefer my own company, but I also do enjoy going out sometimes, I'm just not exactly up for being social as much as most students if that makes sense lol. As much as I'd prefer to get a studio apartment, I doubt I could afford it and it'll probably be good for me to live with other people to sort of force me to socialise with other people I guess lol. Basically, my question is, are there any accommodation places that are a bit quieter but also fairly affordable? I'll be living almost entirely on my student loan (which I believe is the highest bracket so definitely doable) until I can find a part time job so I can't afford anywhere too expensive.
hi! So I’m looking at York St John for 2021 so can only tell you what I’ve found out on open days and from talking to current students.

Most students suggest living on campus for first year so here is a link to all the accommodation options -

The quietest accommodation seems to be Lime Court. The cheapest is The Grange.

If you’d prefer a studio apartment is more likely you’ll have to stay off campus. However I’d encourage you to live with others like you’ve suggested! You could always opt for an en-suite room, therefore you have high levels of privacy but also the chance to socialise with flat mates?

You could look into University Managed Housing but this seems more popular with second and third years along with postgrads.

There are a few threads on TSR about York St John so if you search for them, you may find some answers there!

Here is a link to the next open days (virtual) - https://www.yorksj.ac.uk/study/undergraduate/open-days/

It may be worth joining UniBuddy and talking to students on there!

Sorry I’m not much help

Hey, I'm a 3rd year and I'd recommend St. John's Central, I never actually lived there but visited friends who did a lot and I always wish I chose it.

It's near to a big Morrison's and the uni and it's very central so it's easy to get to any part time work
