Air transport management at Coventry or Airport Planning and Management

Hi, I just received offer letters for both courses mentioned in the title. However, I could not find any relevant reviews comapring these two MSc courses. Therefore I would like to ask you if you have any experience or which course would you suggest?

As for my future: I am still not really sure what I want to do exxactly (work at the airport or airline) and I am afraid that the course at Cranfield is more specific than the one at Coventry.

Your going to have a super tough job market to graduate into. I would go with Cranfield, it has a better name then Coventry... Overall by far. Reputation is likely very important, you'll probably need to work another type of job until the airline industry recovers and hiring returns.

Thank you for your answer. I know that finding job is not going to be easy. So, you would suggest going for Cranfield even though it seems more specialised (focus on planning) than the general course at Coventry?

I would think that planning is a higher level excercise and a unique skill. Likely if you can do that aspect you'll be able to do anything else management related at an airport.

I would go with the specialised course for a master's always.

But i might be biased, as I'm going with a specialised niche master myself in Change Management.starting in September.. Let's hope, someone else reads this and chimes in.

But just a general course in a master's seems like a bit of a waste surely..... Since you want specialist knowledge and tools to use at your expert role. 😂

Hi,

Congratulations on your offers! Some of the modules on the Air Transport Management course is developed in a co-operation with the Chartered Management Institute which will give you a good insight and commercial perspective. You can also opt for a work placement pathway so if you are unsure as to what you want to do in the future, I think that is a great option to gauge different career opportunities. We have great links with the industry, that includes a number of UK, European and other overseas airports; airlines including British Airways, DHL, Jet2 and TUI; air transport consultancies and suppliers; tour operators; handling agents; and aircraft manufacturers including Airbus, Swissport, ACL Airport Coordination Ltd, UBM Aviation Routes/ASM, rdc Route Development Company, SH&E, Seabury Aviation, York Aviation, 3Sixty digital marketing).

I hope you find it helpful. If you have any specific questions, please get in touch with us - we're here to help.

Kind regards,

Monika
